Papers for photo work Epson R180026 Feb 2006 02:09 GMT15
I posted this about a month ago combined with another question and never
got a response about the paper question. I'm crossposting to
comp.periphs.printers & rec.photo.digital.slr-systems this time.
I just picked up a couple things at Calumet Camera, they have a decent
Problem with Canon Digital Rebel XT25 Feb 2006 23:28 GMT29
I bought a Canon Digital Rebel XT a few months ago. I recently took a trip
to Hawaii & shot a lot of photos. When I examined them, I found some darker
spots on many of the images, especially of blue sky. I then went back and
took a series of plain blue sky images (both JPG & Raw) ...
Paparazzi will do just about anything 25 Feb 2006 19:26 GMT6
I saw something funny in today's copy of Life America's Weekend Magazine
(newspaper insert). On page 7 is an article called Swamp Thing. There is a
photo of Carl Brooks who is a paparazzi, dressed up in a ghillie suit (Camo
net covering). He's sporting a Canon EOS camera and a ...
How accurate are the colors on the monitor for a DSLR?25 Feb 2006 18:18 GMT19
For example, the D200 has a nice big ,bright monitor. Are the colors
accurate? Or do I have to view the picture (maybe with a Gretag Macbeth
colorchecker card) on a calibrated monitor to see the true colors?
To get even more complicated, I notice that the same picture opened ...
Gear Story25 Feb 2006 16:09 GMT18
I was at a trade show for the better part of last week in sunny Florida
(very nice on Thur/Fri in the upper 20's (Centigrade) and even over 30C
yesterday pm.  Returned to -17C at home and 40 - 60 km/hr winds last night).
Anyway, as I was walking around the trade show at one point ...
Canon Screws it's  FF and Ultra Wide Lens Users at PMA.25 Feb 2006 14:30 GMT14
Well, Canon fails to deliver anything at the PMA in the lens
department.  We get another pointless EF-S for the 1.6 crop crowd and
an a mechanical improvement to the 85L.
But nothing to improve their pitiful Ultra Wide offering.  When is
Dust Problems with the Canon Digital Rebel XT25 Feb 2006 05:06 GMT9
I found that I had developed a dust problem on my Rebel XT. I used the
Eclipse & Sensor Swabs, and after 2 cleanings with 2 swabs it  looks great!
Can you use Pec Pads rather than the very expensive Sensor Swabs? They say
on their website that you can not do this  - but are they ...
Pentax's Specialty on Alignment!24 Feb 2006 18:48 GMT16
First see this Pentax official website:-
http://www.pentaxslr.com/lenses
Look! It is really funny that some lens hoods are misaligned, and that
there are some with rear caps and some don't. What a serious piece of
Why do digital cameras need shutters?24 Feb 2006 04:42 GMT13
I hope this isn't a silly question. Is it impossible or too expensive to
turn the sensor on and off or something instead of a mechanical shutter?
Just wondering.

Psychics wrong about FF and Canon24 Feb 2006 02:05 GMT8
With the release of the 30D, it does not appear Canon intends to
migrate completely away
from sub-FF sensors.
Magazine work?23 Feb 2006 22:41 GMT22
I am considering purchasing the Nikon D200 but I know very little about
digital photography, only that I would need a DSLR to replace my 35mm
equipment and I will go for the best camera I can afford.
But will the quality be good enough for publication in the 'glossy'
Different kinds of OFF for EOS 350D?23 Feb 2006 21:18 GMT3
Is there any difference in power consumption between manually switching
off the EOS 350D and allowing it to turn itself off automatically?  I
often forget to switch off, and I wonder if I'm running down the
battery significantly.  Obviously switching off prevents anything from
Olympus E330 - It all depends on the sensor... but nice specs!23 Feb 2006 03:50 GMT16
Well, I suppose it is a completely new sensor, so we shouldn't be harsh
until the reports start dribbling in.. but frankly, unless it is bloody
quiet at least up to ISO 800, all of the E330's nice specifications may
be somewhat irrelevant.
