canon tech paper focusing26 Dec 2005 02:22 GMT2
Folks, I have read some very good technical papers on Canon's flash system
and this helped me use their flashes.  I have been looking for a "white
paper" or the like on the focus system, particularly on the pro models,
specifically the 1Dmk11n if possible.  Googling and the like ...

With all of the natural disaster (floods/fires etc) going on in the
world I've been looking for a way to preserve my photos! I have finally
found a way (after my sister lost every picture she had in a house fire
while she was on her honeymoon!) Here it is- I thought I'd share it

Need some pointers on focusing moving objects, specifiicly water/surf25 Dec 2005 06:58 GMT6
I have a new respect for some of you sport shooters; it aint easy and
there are a lot ways to screw it up. I shot some beach pictures
yesterday just for practice. We have a huge swell rolling in here in
Socal, so I thought I might be able to get some interesting pictures.

Filters for Dummies (me)24 Dec 2005 04:49 GMT13
I'm waiting for my first digital SLR and have a few questions about filters.
I ordered a Canon 350D with a 17-85 IS and the 70-200 IS.  I expect them to
arrive early next week and one of the things I was wondering about was
conversion filters.
D200 manual online?24 Dec 2005 01:09 GMT22
Greetings all,
I'm about to purchase a D200 here in Japan where I live, and am searcing for
an English user's manual online. No luck yet at Nikon USA or Europe. Does
anyone know where one might be hiding?
Do you think Nikon will come out with a new SLR in 2006?24 Dec 2005 00:23 GMT24
I was thinking about buying a new SLR and I am leaning towards the D70s
since I already have several Nikon AF lenses.  Since the D70s only has
a few small feature enhancements compared to the D70, do you think
Nikon will come out with a new D70 replacement in 2006?
Transitioning to Nikon D50 from Nikon F4 and accessoires23 Dec 2005 09:16 GMT23
I've been scouring usnet for answers to a number of these questions but
still need some clarification on a few points.
I understand that plain Nikkor AF lenses will work with the D50 except
for "3D color matrix metering and iTTL balanced Fill-Flash." Fist, I
Glitch with Canon 300D?22 Dec 2005 23:08 GMT22
I've been taking a few 'bulb' pictures recently, and on one batch noticed a
slight lightened colour cast down the right hand side 10% of the picture,
similar to how you might with film where a bit of light has leaked in. I
originally put it down to some light entering the lens ...
Canon zoom lens question.22 Dec 2005 22:44 GMT12
I am about to purchase Canon's 70-200mm f/2.8 L lens but am in doubt as to
which model to choose.
There are basically two models, the difference being that one has IS (image
stabilization) and the other doesn't. Outside of that they seem to be the
sequence shooting with flash22 Dec 2005 21:48 GMT1
I tried to shoot a sequence of shots with the built-in flash turned on,
and found that all I could do was single-shot.  Turning off the flash
allowed me to shoot sequences.  Camera is a Nikon D70s.
Is there any way I can shoot sequences with the flash?  It works with my

Has anybody got any constructive comments / criticisms about this
combination please.  my wife is doing quite a bit of motorsport photography
