When I take a picture Nikon D70 (auto white balance, have also tried sunny mode) with (especially) a deep blue sky, either the landscape is too dark (underexposed) and the sky comes out the right color, or the landscape seems to be correctly exposed, but the sky is a washed out

Dear colleagues: Last week I purchased a Canon EOS 1Ds Mk II. I usually purchase my photo equipment from BH Photo in NY and have come to rely on the equipment I always receive from them since they maintain a huge inventory.

I have the Nikon D70 & wish to buy a 58mm Polarizing Filter, having checked the prices the Nikon one is £79 & Hoya around £30. Question is will the Hoya one reduce the Nikon lens quality too much. Any thoughts. Bruce
