Infinite field depth, a good thing?04 Nov 2005 22:48 GMT5

We've all done it. Lost that priceless Kodak moment by snapping a
photo that was grainy, dark, overexposed or out of focus. While user
Nikond D50 Battery Life04 Nov 2005 20:52 GMT5
I was wondering what kind of battery life I should expect. The spec, I
believe, claims 2,000 pictures if the battery is fully charged. But I'm
sure that's NOT the real number.
I will be travelling next week, fairly soon after I get the camera and
380EX Flashgun04 Nov 2005 11:00 GMT15
Hi guys, finally my server carries this group :)
Anyway as mentioned in r.p.d. a friend has asked me to take  some photos of
his wedding. I have told him that I don't have the experience, but he
insists.
Image file naming strategy.04 Nov 2005 07:04 GMT7
Hello, all:
I have yet one more question for the group and it refers to the naming
protocol each of you use for naming your digital image files.
My Canon camera assigns a different name to each image file when set to
anyone using lens adapters on Olympus E-system cameras?04 Nov 2005 06:24 GMT5
I see on the web that there are lens adapters that allow use of
Nikkor and other lenses on Olympus E-series cameras.  It would be
manual focus only, but I'm thinking this might be a way to get
access to some fast prime lenses that are missing from the 4/3rds
Olympus E300 image quality04 Nov 2005 05:59 GMT14
Flash control,
Image quality,
Impeccable build quality in one of the world's cheapest DSLRs. It hard
to comprehend that such things all go together. They do.

Canon DPP 2.0.3.7 - Great Upgrade! 03 Nov 2005 22:47 GMT2
Just got the latest version of Digital Photo Professional; and am
quite impressed with their efforts.
The most significant new feature is the inclusion of a couple of VERY
well-implemented, almost idiot-proof, sharpening tools: RAW and RGB.

Free RAW converter programs?03 Nov 2005 18:43 GMT12
Does anyone know of any free RAW converter progs for Canon? I have tried
downloading the actual Canon DPP software from their site but it appears not
to be available (from there at least), unless I'm doing something wrong,
which is quite possible.
Nikon SB-24 and D70s03 Nov 2005 15:22 GMT21
I have a Nikon SB-24 speedlight that I bought about fifteen years ago.
It's supposedly capable of auto focusing and zooming by itself, and also
using TTL metering with the camera.
In what modes, if any, of the camera would this strobe be able to use
Nikon Lens03 Nov 2005 10:52 GMT4
I have a 20mm 2.8D lens for a Nikon.  Unfortunately the lens will not stop
down so I have to adjust my appeture or the speed in order to shoot a pic.
The lens is always set at 2.8.  Does anybody know where I can find a manual
that shows how to tear down this lens and fix it so it ...
28-200 replacement ?03 Nov 2005 09:36 GMT9
We have a EOS-5, with a sigma 28-200 which was OK(ish) for general purpose
stuff.
Replaced with a 350D, on which the sigma obviously won't work.
Any recommendations for a suitable general purpose zoom, bearing in mind the
D70s Question - May be lens thing03 Nov 2005 06:31 GMT3
I have a friend who has a D70, and I have a D70s.  He has only D type lenses
(old film guy), and I have the kit lens which came with my camera (18-70mm
F/3.5 - 4.5G).  We were comparing notes about how his works versus how mine
works and he made an interesting observation about ...
