| Nikon is in EXCELLENT position..... | 08 Nov 2005 10:35 GMT | 41 |
Just thinking about things. I just bought a D2X and seriously thought about moving to Canon. The D2X is an amazing camera and now the D200 is coming out in 6 weeks and WOW again. They have come up with a real contender for the 5D...Half the price and all the bells and whistles ...

| Convinced (finally) | 08 Nov 2005 09:42 GMT | 16 |
Following lots of consideration, I think that (barring it being crap) i'm going to look at a D200 kit. I am thinking: D200 + 18-70mm (for general purpose) 24mm f2.8

| 4:3 or 3:2 | 07 Nov 2005 21:01 GMT | 21 |
I want to upgrade from my Canon G-3 to a DLSR of excellent quality. Most of the really good DLSR such as the D70, Rebel XT, and 20D appear to be in 3:2 format. Are there "as good" DSLRs available with 4:3 format? I've looked at

| lens compatability | 06 Nov 2005 17:40 GMT | 3 |
I'm considering switching from the n75 to the d50 (nikon film body to digital body). http://nikonusa.com/ assures me they are compatabile, yet I've read in a few places about when you swap lenses the focal lengths will change. Can somebody clarify this for me? I'm mainly curious ...

| Fast DX FFL lenses- possible? | 05 Nov 2005 21:18 GMT | 5 |
I posted in another thread postulating about the possibility of manufacturers producing ultra-fast fixed focal length lenses for the DX (1.5/1.6x)format. My examples were 24mm f1.0, 35mm f1.0 and 60mm f1.0, offering roughly equivalent field of view and DOF to a 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1 ...

| Is Canon about to announce a 'second generation' 20D? | 05 Nov 2005 04:13 GMT | 12 |
I very much want to buy a 20D, but I'd hate to buy it at $1200 and then have Canon announce an improved 20D (probably at around $1500, in response to the new Nikon) just before Christmas. What do you guys think? Thanks!

| Okay, I think i'm unconvinced. | 05 Nov 2005 00:06 GMT | 57 |
My plan had been to go with a EOS-5D with some adapted Contax and Leica lenses. I really, really like this idea- every camera i've used before has been manual focus and aperture priority, so i'm willing to work like that and have the option of auto-everything lenses if I ever ...
