| Sony R-1 "could" be a DSLR | 20 Nov 2005 00:24 GMT | 17 |
A DSLR sized sensor coupled to an expensive zoom lens for $1000. How much to sell it with the lens being removable? Probably cheaper than what a top flight zoom from a camera company and an entry level DSLR would be. Sony could release

| Another Nikon D70 problem. | 19 Nov 2005 22:06 GMT | 8 |
When turning the camera on or any time the metering function is taking place in the camera, the display cycles through multiple combinations of apertures and speed. If I take a picture, the camera will use the setting that is currently in the cycle, which usually means a garbage ...

| Sony's R1; Could be better | 19 Nov 2005 20:27 GMT | 8 |
I saw it today. All (and I mean all, including "wince" the filter threads) is plastic. Because it has an APS sensor, it should be capable of shots similar to an entry-level DSLR, but herein lies the rub; It costs $1299 Can. or as much as an:

| [OT?] Large Format Printers | 19 Nov 2005 12:55 GMT | 16 |
I'm considering purchasing a "large format" printer - one that will handle around a 24" width paper. I've had a look for a newsgroup that might be more appropriate, but haven't found anything very specific. Have any of you good folks been involved with them for photo-quality

| Corsair CF cards | 19 Nov 2005 04:24 GMT | 3 |
Anyone have any experience with these CF cards? Tiger Direct has 1GB cards for $69.99 and the advertisement states 12MB sustained read speed and a write speed of 80X. Seems like a good deal, but I am just a little confused as to why

| Nikon D70 problem | 19 Nov 2005 03:59 GMT | 4 |
I took some pictures with my 18 month old D70 afterward it sat on the tripod for a few days. Recently I tried to turn it on and all I got was a blinking LED by the CF door. Trying a freshly charged battery got the same result. I a lso tried putting in a different Cf card with

| So who's ordered a D200? | 18 Nov 2005 18:00 GMT | 2 |
I know about a half a dozen people in my neck of the woods who have. I have been very tempted, but two things are standing in my way: finances and the fear of finding faults with early versions of the camera (as is usually the case).

| 300/5.6 | 18 Nov 2005 17:53 GMT | 7 |
Is it possible to make a sharp 300/5.6 at $500? EF-S? It is not much dimmer than 300/4, and not much shorter than 400/5.6, and still within the AF limit of f/5.6. If it is much less expensive, would it have a larger market than 300/4 and 400/5.6?

I got the message, "We don't appreciate that kind of language here." from the mechanism that regulates posts. I change a bunch of words and acronyms but it still got caught. Aside from the philosophical argument that I'm sure some of you will reject, do you see any terms
