Best Camera + Software for Remote Telephoto?23 Nov 2005 09:03 GMT5
I have a project which requires an SLR with a very long focal length

Does anyone know of the fastest shutter speed (on a Canon 20D) that the
580Ex flash will sync with?
Thanks

Canon manages a good wide angle22 Nov 2005 21:29 GMT11
Note the use of UD and aspherics, as all good DIGITAL lenses have.

Too bad it won't work on a 5D though.

I purchased a 17-40mm f/4 L lens - It arrived yesterday - I mounted it
on my new Canon 20D. The results are very disappointing...
I have put some of the focussing tests on a web site:

Future of Nikon's DX Format?21 Nov 2005 22:25 GMT38
With more pixels being squeezed into Nikon's DX format (10.2 with the
D200), and the pressure from Canon with their attractive (and somewhat
affordable) full-frame censor cameras (e.g. Canon 5D), I'm beginning to
feel concern that my investment in DX lenses will go to waste in a ...
Feeling more positive...21 Nov 2005 19:52 GMT6
... about the D200.
I think that, on reflection, the 17-55mm kit will suit me for everyday
purposes, and the 85mm f1.4 will be great if I ever have to shoot bands in
low light or very tight headshots. Recent personal revelations about the
Digital Rebel KISS version OK to buy?21 Nov 2005 16:11 GMT10
I was thinking of buying one of these from a store but don't know the
differences, if any, between a Digital Rebel 300D and a Digital Rebel KISS.
Can someone clarify?
reignite the debate, to raw or not to raw21 Nov 2005 12:41 GMT12
I know that this has been debated ad naseum but once again into the fray.
Since purchasing my 20D I have taken all my shots in RAW.  The files are all
about 7 - 8 mg and I back up to two hard drives and one external hard drive
(Maxtor and love it). The camera is used primarily in ...

Need advice, blurry with zoom lens - action shots - D5020 Nov 2005 21:50 GMT3
Hi, I have a Nikon D-50 with a Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5:6 lens.  I am
trying to photograph my daughter at ice skating events.  I have used
monopod and also a tripod, with flash off for athlete consideration.
The pictures are never clear. Very blurry.
Why so few prime lenses sold?20 Nov 2005 08:53 GMT25
It seems as if everyone is trying to squeeze the last pixel out of the
sensors, but then the cameras are almost universally sold with zoom
lenses.
My experience has always been that prime lenses provide better detail
Best dslr camera- indoor volleyball20 Nov 2005 08:47 GMT63
I am going to buy an entry level dslr in the next month.
We spend a lot of time in the gym watching high school volleyball and
basketball, and you can imagine the results with a regular compact
digital camera.
Overexposing Sunsets and Retaining Saturation20 Nov 2005 02:49 GMT1
OK so I tested JPS's claim that overexposing a sunset won't lose
saturation if you darken in post-processing. It worked. In daylight
conditions there is a risk of irretrievably losing blue in the sky
before the blown highlight warning flashes but in a low contrast sunset
