| Med. format CCDs a cut above DSLR sensors? | 26 Nov 2005 20:06 GMT | 10 |
Dalsa is supplying these to one or two companies, whose cameras run around $30,000/ea. Is part of this due to the fact the Dalsa CCDs are a higher grade (fewer dead pixels, more uniform pixel response) than the CCD/CMOS sensors used in DSLRs? Even the Canon 1DSMk2 is

| D70s - low light problem | 26 Nov 2005 17:29 GMT | 24 |
My new Nikon D70s has trouble taking low light photos. My two previous Sony Mavica cameras had no trouble. Why? I found out why... its the sensor size. The industry is moving towards larger sensors in an effort to reduce

| The issue of fall-off on full-frame digital sensors | 25 Nov 2005 16:23 GMT | 20 |
I don't know too much about the technology that goes into a DSLR, but I have read a bit about how the light hitting the sensors at angles and causing fall-off is the real reason why companies like Nikon have not pursued the full 35mm frame sensor route.

| Canon 5D; Outstanding camera, let down by some lenses | 25 Nov 2005 16:20 GMT | 76 |
If you shoot normal or teleshots, this appears to be "The" camera to beat in it's price range. WA? Time for Canon to go back to the drawing board and make some WAs designed to work with digital sensors of that size and not just film.

| Used iPod as photo storage device? (techweb story) | 25 Nov 2005 16:18 GMT | 40 |
It says here that many people are selling their iPods in order to get a newer model. What do people think about using an iPod to unload your memory cards? http://www.techweb.com/wire/ebiz/174400072?sssdmh=dm4.158428

| Old prime manual lenses on Nikon DSLRs? | 25 Nov 2005 07:07 GMT | 30 |
One can find very old, very cheap prime manual Nikon lenses on ebay, and they're supposed to be compatible with the Nikon DSLRs. Has anyone tried this combination?

Looking for input from Canon Digital Rebel/300D/Digital Kiss who also are using it with Canon's new EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens. It seems like most user's of this new lens have at least the

| Slave Lighting -v- E-TTL II Issue? | 25 Nov 2005 05:10 GMT | 3 |
I've got a friend who's purchased a couple of studio strobes (sorry, can't remember the brand, but it consisted of 3 letters). In his normal configuration he plugs one into his 20D via a cable, and the other fires when it detects the flash from the 1st.

| 20D with a 17-40L - Lens Hood | 25 Nov 2005 02:51 GMT | 24 |
I know this is an incredibly naive question, but.... I just purchased a 17-40L for my 20D. I see some folks use the lens hood, others don't. I have to be honest, never had a lens that came with one, so do not know the advantages, if any, and if the 20D 1.6 factor changes those

| Nikon 50mm f1.2 as portrait lens? | 25 Nov 2005 02:30 GMT | 22 |
I understand that compared to the f1.4 and f1.8/2.0 50mm, the f1.2 lens has it's compromises.Does anyone have any experience of it on a DSLR, used as a short portrait lens? I feel the out-of-focus rendition of the f1.4 might be a bit harsh.

| EOS350d or Rebel XT- Difference? | 24 Nov 2005 18:31 GMT | 10 |
I'm obviously new to this, so please bear with me.. I can't find any online comparisons between the two, but I often see "UK version, NOT Rebel XT". Can anyone explain how they differ, if at all?

| Nikon D2X lowest high ISO noise? | 24 Nov 2005 02:31 GMT | 8 |
This is in the most recent issue of "Popular Photography." At high ISOs it achieves the lowest noise of any DSLR up to 1600 ISO, without using a "blurring filter." Seems to contradict other things I've read. In any case, it's sensor is a Sony CMOS.
