EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 EF IS, why does no one have this anymore?29 Sep 2005 21:02 GMT7
I wanted to buy the EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 EF IS, but every retailer
appears to be out of it, and B&H lists no date of availability (for a
while their site said October 2005, now it says "We have no estimated

Does Nikon web support stink?29 Sep 2005 13:16 GMT22
Is it just me, or does Nikon's web support system stink?  (At Nikon
Canada, they call it the "Imaging Support Centre", while at Nikon USA it's
called the "Nikon Knowledge Database", but it seems to be same server...my
support account and inquiries show up at both sites.)
Flash problems with D70, SB-600 and Tokina 19-35?29 Sep 2005 03:17 GMT8
I was trying to take some indoor pictures recently with my Nikon D70 and
SB-800.  With the Sigma 14mm I got pretty much what I expected, but with the
Tokina 19-35 I got grossly underexposed shots and couldn't get any better
results with +2 stops "compensation".  The lens was ...
Types of dust spots in images28 Sep 2005 09:16 GMT9
There are around a dozen dust spots in this 5D image.  I'm wondering
why some are irregular while others appear very round.  It's almost
like they are being imaged off different surfaces and that the round
ones are diffraction patterns of spots too small to actually resolve

Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS -v- non-IS Version26 Sep 2005 20:10 GMT24
I'll be buying one of these in the next few weeks ...
My first inclination was to go for the IS version, but just when my mind was
made up I've been told by "someone who has a friend who is a pro-Canon
professional photographer" that the IS technology results in less sharpmess
anybody's using aa-size batteries with nikon d100?26 Sep 2005 14:52 GMT5
i've always used 2 en-el3 batteries inside my mb-d100, but
occasionally run out of power during a photo session.
in those occasions, it would be useful to be able to use 6 aa-size
batteries in the battery holder i got with the camera, but with any
Future of resolution, accurate colour = linear arrays??26 Sep 2005 13:15 GMT9
There are some industrial scanning CCD cameras that use them.
It could work in higher end DSLRs.  But dedicated arrays
for each colour would be a good idea.

Nikon D70s availability in UK?26 Sep 2005 09:31 GMT5
My Yashica 230AF is finally giving up on me after 16 years service, and
it seems like the time to move to to a DSLR. I have being researching
the options available for the last few weeks and, not wanting to end up
with another dodo (like the Yashica AF system), I decided to go for

Digital Rebel dead upon arrival25 Sep 2005 16:12 GMT8
I flew w/ my Digital Rebel from Boston to Marseille (connected in
Rome), and the camera was dead upon arrival. The battery was fully
charged (I double-checked this w/ my charger). After my trip I sent the
camera (still under warranty) to Canon for repair. They replaced the
Digital Rebel out of warranty service25 Sep 2005 13:21 GMT2
Is there anyone in the Victoria, BC area that can recommend a camera
shop for service for the Digital Rebel?  My Rebel suddenly stopped
working yesterday morning and I have a trip coming up that won't be a
trip without my Rebel!  I have used that camera almost everyday for the
