camera bags12 Aug 2005 22:01 GMT15
I bought a lowepro bag for my Nikon D70s but am already outgrowing it. I'll
be ordering a flash and telephoto lens this week and was wondering it you
have any recommendations for a bag? It is so hard to decide on a size based
solely on measurements! Thanks. Mo
Compatible lenses12 Aug 2005 19:06 GMT7
I'm buying a digital SLR camera for my girlfriend. She currently owns a
Nikon optical SLR (AF 8008?) with a few lenses (Nikon, Canon and Sigma). I
want her to be able to use her current lenses on the digital camera I buy -
does this place restrictions on the manufacturer I can ...
Is there any graph that shows lenses versus sensors?12 Aug 2005 18:51 GMT10
That is, is there anything that says at what
point sensor resolution outstrips current lenses
in terms of what they are capable of delivering?
Lenses have theoretical limits to resolving power,
D70 & Dust12 Aug 2005 18:48 GMT5
I having an increasingly problematic time related to
dust on my sensor, I use the camera a lot probably on the
order of 10,000 images since its purchase and have had it
for about 1 year. I change the lens on occasion, in any event
Are flashes "cash cows" for the camera makers?12 Aug 2005 14:48 GMT13
Most of them look and feel like they cost about $20 to produce.
Except for some really elaborate units.  Why is it a flash for
a $1000 camera/lens costs $300 or more?  All it is is some control
electronics, and a flash tube, neither of which cost much.   At least
Canon lens upgrades for available light action photography12 Aug 2005 05:46 GMT7
   I've got a 300D w/ kit lens (18-55 f/3.5-5.6) and a 75-300 f/4-5.6
Tamron telephoto.  It has served well for my very first non-P&S rig.  My
main subject is horses and riding, indoors or outdoors, and it can easily
show the limitations of this setup.  The big shortcoming of my ...
Full-frame or 1.5 DSLR?12 Aug 2005 04:09 GMT195
A full frame DSLR with a telephoto
or a 1.5-1.6 frame with a telephoto?
The reason I ask is that most people seem to
crop and it doesn't take much cropping (about
Canon Rebel XT for the Girlfriend11 Aug 2005 22:37 GMT11
My girlfriend's birthday is coming up so I bought her a Digital Rebel XT
(350D).  This will replace the Sony F717 I loaned her a while back.  It
seems the perfect size for her hands.  I'm planning a 20D for myself soon.
:)
Spot the 18-55mm Canon 'kit' lens ?11 Aug 2005 20:35 GMT31
I've taken 3 photos with 3 different Canon Zoom lens (non are L series), all
set at 24mm f8 on a 350D.
Full Res jpegs, hope you have broadband.
Can you identify the 18-55mm 'kit lens' ?
"Exposure" vs "Digitization11 Aug 2005 20:06 GMT49
After spending some time under the hood, so to speak, of RAW capture and
data, I find it increasingly difficult to use the term "exposure" to
refer to the relative degree of photon saturation in a JPEG or RAW at a
given ISO.  The analog to slide film exposure is actually the analog
raw challenge v.3.o11 Aug 2005 17:04 GMT28
We have just started a new edition of our RAW challenge, just for fun.
What is the game about? Download the RAW file, postprocess it, retouch
it, boil it, add salt and pepper and finally show us what you have done
with it. Just for the fun of it.
Olympus E-30011 Aug 2005 04:27 GMT4
I was playing with one of these in a store yesterday and unfortunately the
salesperson didn't have a clue on how it operates (so what's new).
From what I could gather, the aperture control is done by menu and the
rear LCD remains on when the camera is on, switching off only during
Which digital SLR system?11 Aug 2005 04:07 GMT14
I've owned a manual focus 35mm SLR outfit for the past 15 years,
consisting of:
Contax 139
Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 28mm f2.8
Comments on this strange flash shot - please11 Aug 2005 02:13 GMT27
Last night was my first use of a real flash on my dslr, a 420EX on a
300D. There's lots to learn and I'm generally happy with the results
but one of the shots came out *very* strange (and I think, funny.)
