Weston/D7017 Aug 2005 03:00 GMT3
Thanks for your advice regarding the AIS lens compatibility to the D70.
Next question relates to exposure. Because I tend to photograph landscapes
under extreme lighting conditions the D70 system usually fails to get the
exposure right, so I was thinking of using my old Weston ...
No battery grip for Pentax DS/DL?17 Aug 2005 02:03 GMT6
Strange omission - there's one for the 'D'... my feeling was that these
companies love you rort you on the accessories.

Nikond50 and 70-300mm G lens17 Aug 2005 01:04 GMT2
Is this a good combo?  It sure is on the wallet. I've heard some good things
about this lens when comparing it to the  55-200mm DX which costs twice as
much. Anyone out there using this combination? Thanks. AJ

Real Difference16 Aug 2005 22:09 GMT6
I have searched the groups, but have not seen any side by side pictures,
or what I feel is solid evidence for me to make a good decision... I
bought a Nikon D-70 'bundle'.  The lens it came with is a Nikkor 28-80mm

Pentax exif info?16 Aug 2005 21:57 GMT1
I'm trying to find out the total number of shutter actuation's on an istD.
Opanda normally shows this field with Cannon, but it doesn't with Pentax.
I've also tried Exifer & Exif read - no luck.
does anyone know whether the total number of shots is recorded by Pentax,
Newbie question16 Aug 2005 20:10 GMT8
In the early 1970s I bought a Minolta SRT 101 SLR with several lenses.   If
switching to a Minolta digital SLR, can these lenses be used at all?
10d PTP and Windows 200016 Aug 2005 17:13 GMT9
I have a Canon 10d which can be configured to communicate over
USB via "PTP".  When I connected it to my win2000 system it prompts for
a driver.  Is there such a thing?  I was told that Win/XP has PTP built in.
TIA
Well, I broke down...16 Aug 2005 14:01 GMT7
...and bought a vertical grip for the 10D on eBay.  I've got a couple
extra batteries coming in from Thomas Distributing so I'll have a total
of 4.
I shall never run out of juice in the middle of taking photos again!
Is digital diluting pro revenues?16 Aug 2005 09:45 GMT90
First off, apologies for the cross-post, but I think this is relevant in
both groups.
With the mass infusion of digital cameras into the marketplace, most of
which are capable of taking photos a lot better than the average 35mm P&S
Tamron or Sigma 24-135?16 Aug 2005 08:19 GMT4
I have narrowed my lens choice down to the Tamron 24-135/3.5-5.6 as a leave
on the camera lens.
I was about to buy and then noticed the Sigma 24-135/2.8-4.5 which excited
me as on paper it appears to be faster and overcomes the comments that the

Pricing the Maxxum 5D15 Aug 2005 19:13 GMT35
I was surprised when my local store told me the Maxxum 5D would be
CAD$1099 with kit lens and available in a couple weeks.  That comes to
about US$900.

Using Lithium Cells in Battery Grips15 Aug 2005 15:37 GMT17
On Friday I got my 20D, complete with Battery Grip. I'm aware of the probs
with this model of grip, but I've checked my serial number against what's
listed on the website - and mine is OK.
Having said that, I charged up 6 NiMH double A cells - threw them in the
Please Share Your MultiMedia Storage Strategies?15 Aug 2005 09:23 GMT14
I estimate my digital content to be growing at about 100GB/yr. Blame it
on a growing collection of RAW, MP3, MPEG-2, and AVI files. As well as a
desire to host my own website.
I want to de-couple the storage and backup of this increasingly
