Leica DSLR05 Aug 2005 19:01 GMT9
Got the B&H Photo catalog of SLRs a while ago.  Was looking at the Leica
digital back for the R8 and R9.  Anyone know something of it?
BTW looked back 1000 messages and no mention of it.  Sorry if I'm
reopening a subject well discussed previously....

Flashgun with a Canon DSLR04 Aug 2005 22:34 GMT6
I'm using a Canon Rebel and am new to digital cameras.
I have a perfectly fine Sunpak Auto 511 flashgun which I used successfully
with both my Olympus SLR and a number of lenses on my 4x5. Can this
flashgun be used with my Canon or must I get a gun specifically for this

Pro Digital Photography magazine (Sigma)04 Aug 2005 03:03 GMT4
Sigma SD10 beats out Nikon D70 for image quality,
with comments that it produces the sharpest images
the reviewer has ever seen and outstanding colour.
Kodak's DSLR scores perfect across the board in their tests,
On/off camera flash advice04 Aug 2005 02:22 GMT10
I've got a Canon 300D and want to add a flash to my kit.  I'm
iinterested in two different applcations and one flash may not do
everything. I've tried fo figure out the Canon, Metz, Vivatar and
Sigma catalogs on the Internet and find I can't narrow down my
Do you crop your DSLR images?04 Aug 2005 01:35 GMT18
Sometime amount the era I began to use 35mm cameras, I developed a
framing habit so as not to lose any precious resolution when the images
were enlarged. I unconsciously do it now and almost never crop an image
unless it's to accommodate "perfect portrait" size - the 2/3rds thing ...
Bug in Dynax 7D firmware04 Aug 2005 00:36 GMT7
I've finally found something bad with my 7D :)
I have set the picture storage mode to large jpegs, one file folder per day.
Last week end I was shooting a couple of pictures, when the memory card got
full (a 256 MB compactflash).

1DMKII and 20D cameras were used with 17-40 L and 70-300 DO IS lenses.
Photo's have not been worked in any photo program They have only
undergone sizing [ :( ] for Show & Tell web posting.
Look at the size of those lenses and notice the pods they use.
The DSLR alternative??03 Aug 2005 22:55 GMT12
Now Kodak has jumped on the bandwagon.  First Samsung, then
Panasonic, then Fuji and now Kodak.
Megapixels, long zooms, lots of manual control.
I wonder how this segment is going to sell?
Canon 20D grip fix offered03 Aug 2005 21:57 GMT6
For those who've had 20D grip problems, Canon appear to have finally
acknowledged responsibility:

Kodak bends laws of physics03 Aug 2005 14:22 GMT1
Read this about their new camera.  They've figured out a way to slow
down things like motor racing so you can record the action at a slower
shutter speed.  :)

Canon EOS 20D - is this review fair?03 Aug 2005 13:14 GMT43
Excerpts from a review of the EOS20D from a leading UK magazine:
"Unfortunately, exposures are not quite as accurate or reliable as we
might expect from an EOS camera. The 20D is prone to slight
underexposure, particularly with wideangle lenses."
Canon's notorious kit lens, compared to the $100 Sigma 18-55?03 Aug 2005 05:03 GMT5
I noticed Sigma has a cheap zoom with the same characteristics,
it's inexpensive, it's plastic and has the same focal range.
Has anyone compared it against the Canon?  This could be one
case where an aftermarket lens of equal value is superior.
Aftermarket lens support;  Pentax yes, Olympus no?03 Aug 2005 00:20 GMT1
Does Pentax sell more DSLRs than Olympus?  If not,
why no aftermarket lenses for Olympus?  Is it solely
because of the 4/3rds system requirements?
