20D with 24~70 f2.8 tells a story in a face27 Jul 2005 01:04 GMT37
Last Sunday on a small island in Moreton Bay, History was re-enacted as
it is every year to celebrate the landing by Mathew Finders on the "6th
Island". One man has taken part in the celebration every year. Almost as
old as the event, his face tells it all.
Nikon 55-20026 Jul 2005 14:14 GMT2
Arf: this lens is a Dog.
Very slow to focus, lots of aberrations. My impression is the slow focus is
not due to mechanical factors but to inherent low contrast or flare that
prevents the autofocus sensor in the camera settle on maximum edge contrast.
Maxxum/Dynax 7D wide-angle lens?26 Jul 2005 14:00 GMT16
I've recently purchased a 7D and am using it with the lenses I used to have
on my old 500si.  Stock 35-70 and 75-300
I'ld like to get some wider angle of view and am looking for some advice on
which lens(s) I should be considering
Aviation photography lenses26 Jul 2005 08:20 GMT20
I've been recently starting with DSLR photography and picked up a Digital
Rebel XT that I'm very happy with. Having a non-unlimited budget, I got it
with the 18-55 kit lens (usable for some point&shooting), a 50mm f/1.4 prime
(it knocked me down my chair when I looked at the ...
Advice: D70 28-80 or D70s 18-70?26 Jul 2005 05:37 GMT7
As part of a long-service award with my employer, I have the option to
choose something from a catalogue to which they will contribute £350.
In the catalogue is the Nikon D70 with the 28-80 AF G lens kit. This will
cost me approx £350 on top of my employer's contribution.
Canon 350D and Sigma flashes26 Jul 2005 03:02 GMT2
I am thinking about purchasing an external flash on a limited budget and
considering Sigma
flashes. Adorama has the Sigma EF500 ST-DG for $149.00 and the EF500 Super
DG
The virtual of RAW26 Jul 2005 02:43 GMT19
People ask why use RAW format. I use it often for EC compensation and
color balance. Here is another reason. I always complains that many
photos I take in the day time with the sky way overblown and asked about
advice for a gradual filter.
A dRebel Question25 Jul 2005 23:52 GMT3
My shot numbers are comming up to img_9999.jpg.
What happens when the odometer rolls over?  Do I go to 5 digits? I
hope so otherwise my fiing system will be a mess.
Thanks
Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements / Apple or PC?25 Jul 2005 23:45 GMT118
By just buying Elements, would I miss out on much?
Second question, what is best to store and manipulate photos on - Apple or
PC?
(Not a troll btw!)
RAW processing advice sought25 Jul 2005 22:41 GMT8
I am shooting exculsively RAW with my Canon 350D, importing with ACR
into Elements 3, and would like the advice of more experienced
photographers as to what settings to experiment with. What processing
do you do in the RAW processing application and what do you undertake
Took the Pentax *ist DS to the War & Peace Show yesterday25 Jul 2005 21:47 GMT9
I took nearly 300 pictures - all best quality JPEGs.
I used the standard 18-55 autofocus lens and when I wanted to go in
close, I used my old Tamron 85-210 manual lens.
I even popped the flash up for some pictures inside the "jungle tunnel",

White balance25 Jul 2005 00:21 GMT30
A certain person in this group recently said how it was difficult
to get exposure correct while also having to worry about white
balance when the subject keeps going from sunlight to cloud.
I don't get it.
Canon's 18 ~ 55  "Kit" lens examples24 Jul 2005 23:10 GMT82
Plenty of knockers for this lens in these groups recently. After having
used one for about 1600 clicks and getting images well worth
publication, I can only conclude the deciples of EOS knocking this lens
as "total crap" have never actually used one or they would have a
Pro-Optic Extension Tubes?24 Jul 2005 19:43 GMT3
Adorama's selling (a house brand?) set of extension tubes (for the Nikon AF)
that's half the price ($85) of the Kenko DG Auto tube set ($159).  Does
anyone have any experience with them and how do they compare with the more
expensive stuff like Nikon's own?
