Nikon NEF Question07 Jul 2005 05:11 GMT4
I recently bought a Nikon D70s, am pleased with the camera, and want to try
working with Nikon's RAW files (NEFs).  I thought I had read here that
Photoshop Elements would open NEF files, but just would not reproduce the
"as shot" settings.  When I try it, though, PE does not accept ...
Web review of colour calibration devices?07 Jul 2005 00:02 GMT3
I remember reading a very comprehensive review on a website a couple of
months ago that compared most of the monitor colour calibration devices.
Now that I'm ready to upgrade from my Spyder, I'm damned if I can find
the website or the browser bookmark I /thought/ I made at the time. ...
How Nikon Is Really Doing06 Jul 2005 23:07 GMT15
A lot of rumors and speculation regarding sales and market share loss have
been floating about.  Here's the data straight from Nikon's investor
relations site.

Got a picture in Toronto paper06 Jul 2005 19:49 GMT8
In the Toronto Star. We had a huge wind/rainstorm today
and it trashed a local park.  I got shots of a 100ft bridge
falling down and heading downstream.  Of course the bridge was
wood.  It will be on pg. 2 of the the local section the paper Tuesday.

Advanced Composition Article06 Jul 2005 06:53 GMT9
I have written part one of an article on advanced composition. I would
like your opinion on the article. Particularly, do you find the article
of value, and would you like to see future articles? If so, I will
complete the additional parts of this article and, over time, prepare
Canon Products - JUNK IMO06 Jul 2005 06:00 GMT18
I am severely disappointed in Canon products. The 20D is NOT worth the
money. Come to think of it, DSLRs in general are not even worth the hassle!
Seriously, what good is it if you are constantly worrying that changing the
lens because of dust issues. so, you don't change the lens, ...
Nikon D50  raw images (NEF) and PSE06 Jul 2005 03:27 GMT2
I know the D50 has not been out there long but I have found that PSE 3.0 and
even Nikon's Capture 2.3 get a corrupted file error when I try to load or
when the program automatically loads nef files from my new D50.
Has anyone else been able to use D50 raw image files in any ...

Thanks for the tips06 Jul 2005 02:12 GMT4
Picked up lots of fireworks tips here just by trolling.  The trick seems to
be getting just two or three bursts, and hopefully they aren't right on top
of each other.  Used between f8 and f11, bulb, the remote, and a D70 with
the kit lens.  Tripod, of course.  Finally, after all ...
Plastic vs metal lens mount06 Jul 2005 02:04 GMT15
I've noticed that some manufacturers are using a plastic lens mount on DSLR
lenses.  I realize this isn't a "normal" plastic, but how long can something
like this be expected to hold up and last?
Obviously, if you never swap lenses it will last forever.
Caution (sensor cleaning)06 Jul 2005 01:15 GMT16
Well, I had a few spots on my D70 and figure I'd try the brush method for a
change.  I used the brushes that are being sold on eBay.  Anyway, I'm not
sure if the problem was that the brushes aren't as clean as they say they
are, or if it was what I used to blow air across the ...
New SB800 saves the day05 Jul 2005 20:57 GMT2
I was trying to take some photos of myself sitting on a car using the
remote.  Well, the car came out great, but with my wearing a cap you
couldn't see my face even though it was in bright sunlight.  So, I grabbed
my new SB800, snapped it on the camera and set it to TTL/Fill. It ...
Olympus now locked-in?05 Jul 2005 20:39 GMT6
Given they've released a few specific
lenses for their current system and are
about to release three more costly ED zooms,
it seems likely that they are sticking with the
