Four Thirds System17 May 2005 22:47 GMT67
Hi, all,
I'm just trying to work out whether I should be waiting for more to happen
on the four-thirds front or whether the format is dead.  I know Olympus have
released cameras and that there are some lenses, but I can't find anything
coefficient for lens: really true?17 May 2005 20:43 GMT52
1.Is it true to say that if I use a 50mm lens from a 35mm camera on a
Digital SLR, I get the equivalent of a 75mm lens?
2. If the answer to question #1 it is yes, then is my subject getting closer
(as if I was using a telephoto) *and* the view angle getting narrower or is
Prints look better than a screen17 May 2005 20:22 GMT3
I dislike screens.  They have pixels, in fewer numbers than
my camera.  So, when I look at images (even though my screen res
is up to 2000) I see some kind of lines, jaggedness, etc. Meanwhile, I
print an 8x10 or larger even and it looks SO much better.  In some

poss slightly off topic  Monopods..17 May 2005 10:55 GMT4
first off budget is tight, and I'm in the UK (so some may not be available
here)
I think I want a monopod (sometimes a tripod just too much hassle to take
with you, set up in a hurry (I do wildlife mainly)) but I suffer horrific
HELP PLEASE. Need advice with the Canon Rebel or the Nikon 8800.17 May 2005 05:52 GMT4
Im not sure what camera is better.
I am drawn to both for each ones features.
I do however like the fact that then rebel is an SLR camera.
Hmmm what to do??

CCD versus CMOS16 May 2005 21:25 GMT51
I think the support electronics and software has helped
CMOS achieve what it has in consumer cameras.
From http://www.dalsa.com/markets/ccd_vs_cmos.asp
CCDs offer superior image performance (as measured in quantum
Hacks for 300D16 May 2005 18:50 GMT6
I just ordered a Canon 300D and should receive it by the end of this week.
I've read about some software hacks that enable certain dormant features.
Two questions:
1) Do the hacks void the warranty? (Seems they would but would like

Minolta 7D and Sigma Lens compatibility16 May 2005 17:05 GMT5
I am considering going way over my budget and purchasing a KM7D for the
figure skating photography I do......but it's absolutely essential that
the camera be compatible with my Sigma 70-210/2.8 zoom lens. I've been
researching this everywhere online with no results yet though I did
Dia2Digi16 May 2005 16:19 GMT1
I have thousands of dia slides from the "old days". Is there any simple way
to make jpg's of them? A scanner would of course do the job, but it would
take ages. Would prefer to put some equipment on my D70s and do it that way.
Any experience?
