IBM CEO;  The future of computing is....analog!27 May 2005 19:41 GMT2
I was thinking about this 2 years ago when someone brought up the fact
they hadn't been able to move artificial intelligence forward nearly
as much as they'd have hoped.  Now it seems a shift to analog might
come to pass. It ties in with the emphasis of various corporations on
Any truth to this rumour? (Minolta)27 May 2005 17:29 GMT5
That the Minolta IS in camera mechanism acts
as a dust reducer, somewhat like the Olympus
mechanism?  I read it, I don't know if it's true.
If it is, then I'd say Minolta comes as close to
Most useful focal ranges27 May 2005 14:28 GMT14
This may sound like a strange question, but:
What do you find to be the most useful FL ranges for your shooting?
Also, you may want to mention you FOV crop (if any). On my 1.6x FOVC 20D, I
have found that I dont use focal lengths in the range of roughly ~25mm to
350D Hands On27 May 2005 09:30 GMT6
I was in my local Microcenter, and had a chance to finally handle the
Canon Digital Rebel XL (350D).
It's too small for me.
It felt very uncomfortable to handle; I couldn't get a secure grip on
removing the dusts for less than 3 euros/dollars26 May 2005 21:42 GMT13
It's better if you speak French though the photos are explicit. It DOES
work. I did mine in less than 10 minutes yesterday.

Am I the only one who does this?26 May 2005 14:58 GMT49
I find the hardest thing to accomplish with my DSLR is to get a proper
exposure.  Tonight I set the camera to spot meter and tried to shoot the
sunset.  Using the LCD I try and get close by aiming at several portions of
the sunset, take some test shots, and then shift to manual ...
refurbished 20d26 May 2005 14:01 GMT24
Is it risky business to buy refurbished equipment?
If it is risky, does anyone have an alternative to buying new?
What it new Nikons and Canons feature sensor cleaning?25 May 2005 20:55 GMT1
Like Olympus?  I'm wondering how many will change
bodies because of it?  I've seen some digital shots that
definitely indicate "speckles" caused by sensor window
dust.  This isn't suprising since any dust specs you
[Oly E-300] Three weeks in China25 May 2005 20:26 GMT9
Just came back from three wonderful weeks, backpacking through China. It
was the first chance to really put the new Olympus E-300 through its paces.
It has proven to be an ideal travel camera due to its light weight, compact
yet very ergonomic design and great lenses (Zuiko ...
German Camera Shops25 May 2005 15:57 GMT1
I will be driving through a significant part of Germany tomorrow, and
would like to shop for some Canon EF or Pentax lenses.
Does anybody know any really well-stocked and reasonable camera shops
around Flensburg, Hamburg, Bremen, Osnabrück, Münster, Dortmund,
DSLR battery charging25 May 2005 14:50 GMT15
I have a Nikon D100, which has now become the backup for my D2X. So
the D100 batteries (which are not the same size as the D2X's) won't
get used much.
Is it better to just let the D100 batteries run down, and then charge
Lenses for D70 (amateur)25 May 2005 14:50 GMT33
I'm enjoying my D70 so much, I'd like to purchase a new lens.  The
"outfit" came with this one:

Need macro lens suggestions25 May 2005 14:42 GMT16
Just got my Canon 300D. Does anyone have suggestions for a good,
moderately-priced macro lens for this camera?

focus problem with Nikkor 35-70 at 4-6 feet...ish25 May 2005 12:55 GMT4
Maybe its me, but I really don't think so. I'm using a Nikkor 35-70 zoom
(f2.8) with a D1x and I have had a recurring problem with focus under
certain conditions.
I decided to try a little test exercise this afternoon, and took several
Genuine Fractals in Photoshop;  Where?25 May 2005 10:39 GMT27
I had no problem putting an Olympus raw file
plugin into Photoshop, it works.  But I'm wondering where
Genuine Fractals ends up showing up?  It's
installed according to directions but how
