Rebel XT vs Nikon D70s29 May 2005 01:13 GMT60
Hey guys,
I've been hanging around here lately soaking up all of the wisdom...and
getting bored with the continuous threads of insults...anyway, here's my
question.
Diopter Lenses?28 May 2005 23:54 GMT19
I have a Canon 20D digital camera with the EF-S 18-55 lens and the Canon
75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM EF lens.
I have two questions.
1. Where can I buy diopter lenses. I've found them on the internet (B&H),
B&H -Amazing Service28 May 2005 20:45 GMT9
I noticed that I had lost the LCD display cover on my D70 after returning
from a week long graduation/vacation trip to Virginia Tech.  I ordered a
replacement on Wed (26 May) and delivery is scheduled for today (27 May).
The cover is only $9.95.
Anyone experiences with the Sigma 12-24mm Zoom28 May 2005 18:59 GMT28
Since I won't be giving up my film SLRs any time soon even though I took the
plunge and bought a DSLR that uses the same lenses, I find that I need a
real wide angle lens for the DSLR that's at least as wide as the 19-35mm
Zoom that I've used for over a year on the film bodies.  ...

D100 second hand price?28 May 2005 16:21 GMT2
I have a friend who is about to sell his Nikon D100, I was considering
making an offer, but I'm not sure how much.
I've had a quick scout around the internet and found second hand prices
from a few hundred quid up to nearly new prices.
Request for Printer Advice28 May 2005 15:53 GMT7
As I finally upgrade from my antique 2 megapixel camera to a decent DSLR, it
seems like the right time to upgrade from my little HP inkjet.  Having
gotten good advice from this group in the past, I'm putting in a request for
help.
Filter covers fall off!28 May 2005 15:33 GMT3
Hi all, I'm using B+W UV filters on all my lenses. The 77mm filter
doesn't hold the cover very well at all. I've tuned my ear to
listen for the slap noise the cover makes when it hits the ground and
to date I've been lucky enough to recover the lens cover every time;
Nikon viewer flips color space when editor starts28 May 2005 11:16 GMT4
For some reason Nikon view flips the color space when the editor starts,
reds become blues, see http://www.salisbury.org.uk/nv_fault.JPG
Any ideas on how to stop this?
Mega pixels wars (is it all?)28 May 2005 04:14 GMT2
There is no doubt something like Canon's 16 megapixel monster DSLR
produces outstanding images.  But are megapixels (when you work in
smaller increments) that important?  Case in point, the jump from
6-8.  There are many people out there fretting about whether they
Do you like this kind of thing?27 May 2005 23:58 GMT4

I find that when I see photos like this, they tend to be somewhat
striking, but I don't mentally retain them the way I do a good
"realistic" photo.  Some of them seem to exist only to illustrate
Negative film to digital27 May 2005 23:22 GMT7
I have successtully digitalized appr. 500 color slides using a Soligor dia
duplicator on my D70s. After some experimenting it worked fine, and the
whole process took about 5-10 hours. I use an old Braun F300 flash and that
works great. And the quality came out much better than I ...
Extension tubes - how much effect27 May 2005 20:05 GMT23
I have been looking at these extension tubes, to see if maybe I can use my
70-200 for macro shots (and thus avoid buying a macro prime). The 70-200
minimum focusing distance is 1.4m (not good enough for macro of bugs). If I
used the following extension tube, how close will I be able ...
The two pixel shift filter27 May 2005 19:46 GMT6
Digital cameras use a phase shift filter in front
of the CCD/CMOS sensor that apparently spreads the
image across two pixels, to eliminate moire and
aliazing(sp?).  Is there any software out there that
