Close but not quite ready for a DSLR11 May 2005 01:04 GMT16
A bit of history,
My first SLR was a Canon A1 - just after college - enjoy the beast for
several years with a few Canon and offbrand lenses -- finally give the whole
outfit to by niece - many years ago
Canon 300D Focue Issue ???10 May 2005 20:02 GMT5
New Canon 300 D with kit lens.
I also shoot with the 70-300 lens.
The 70/300 lens was a little slow to focus when I used it on my regular
Rebel 2000 and now I find that it is a little bit slower on the 300. Also
EF-S lenses, What does the S do?10 May 2005 19:37 GMT15
I am in the process of buying a 20D, and am now looking at lens options. I
do not trust manufacturers to not suddenly drop any given standard they have
developed in favour of a 'new improved' standard. Out of their selection of
X-number of lenses, Canon only has 4 EF-S models.. ...
IS Woes ....Aaagh!10 May 2005 08:37 GMT6
A brief recap:
I bought a S/H Canon EF 75-300 IS which had a duff AF motor.
I sent the lens to Canon RCC for a new USM motor, paying £120.00 for a fixed
price service..
At what point will it stop?10 May 2005 07:31 GMT79
The megapixel numbers game?
If they stopped at say 20 megapixels
for a DSLR of traditional 35 mm configuration,
could they then start to concentate on
How many 20Ds have had auto focus calibrated10 May 2005 07:08 GMT17
It's odd that I bought 2, 20Ds last year and both needed to have the back
focus calibrated. One focused forward of the focus point and the other aft
of it. I thought because they had similar serial numbers they might have
been from a "made on monday" batch but recently I've come ...
Pentax *istDS and old Canon flash - I dit it10 May 2005 03:21 GMT3
I didn't get any answer to my post of yesterday (I must be too impatient)
and I dared it (Canon Speedlite 155A). Everything seems fine so far.
Still welcomes any feedback.

*idtDs and old flash09 May 2005 23:07 GMT2
Hi, *istDs-ists, I've been wondering for a long time whether I can use my
very old Canon 155A flash with my very new *istDs...
I have sent a few emails to Pentax. I got one answer (from Pentax Canada,
Pentax USA) and it says:
K-M 7D A/S test09 May 2005 21:27 GMT4
Quickly done and I didn't push trying for the greatest stability.

Shot with a 100mm lens at 1/25s @ f/22.  Manually refocused between each
shot.
Canon's 20Da09 May 2005 20:01 GMT9
I understand that in addition to the special filter
to let through infrared for astronomical photos,
the Da also has a better LCD screen for more accurate
manual focusing.
D70 vs. D70s09 May 2005 18:57 GMT3
I'm new at this.  Any advice on buying a D70 now versus waiting to buy a
D70s, probably for a few hundred more?

Nikon D100 / D200 - D2x / D3x - D309 May 2005 16:58 GMT3
Is there more info available about the D200 and when it will become
available?
Same question for the D3x and D3 (full frame)
For the D100 I use an exposure correction setting of +0.7. Anybody has the
Opinion Time09 May 2005 14:05 GMT3
I haven't had the opportunity to try Canon's 70-300m DO IS USM lens. Some
time ago I read a users report that the lens is darn near as good as Canon's
70-300 f2.8 IS lens. Anyone have this lens and care to share info about it?

Nikon d70s vs EOS 20d09 May 2005 00:36 GMT105
I have agonized over these 2 models for nearly a year. I have always been
partial to Nikon, resisted Windows and have only made the jump to digital
format from emulsion 35mm and 4x5 cameras 3 years ago...but the features on
the Canon 20d are quite impressive but i do not know ...
