Polarising filter puzzle13 Apr 2005 01:38 GMT8
Can someone explain this one to me?
I have two polarising filters, both screw-ons with std filter threads and
rotating mounts.
One is a Hoya PL-CIR.
Canon 540EZ and EOS 300D/Digital Rebel12 Apr 2005 23:56 GMT24
I'm about to take delivery of an EOS 300D/Digital rebel, and have an
older 540EZ speedlite flash, with which I've had great results in the
past with film EOS bodies.
Now, from a few things I've read I understand that the 540EZ doesn't
how to avoid noise at higher iso?12 Apr 2005 23:08 GMT38
What are some tips to reduce noise at high iso settings?   Mostly I'm
interested in methods other than dedicated noise reduction post processing
programs.  I own a D70. I've heard the following:
Shoot with exposure compensation +1
Good Sources for Digital Photography Tips12 Apr 2005 08:26 GMT11
I'm a recent adopter of digital after retiring my 20 year old film SLR
outfit.  Therefore, I don't know squat about enhancing digital photo's...
Are there any good publications out there that address this?  Even better,
are there some good on-line resources?
20D lock up survey11 Apr 2005 22:34 GMT7
Please, no bashing, no hearsay, no vitriol.  Please respond ONLY if you have
EXPERIENCED this problem and please be as brief as possible but do include
all pertinent information.  Responding might foster a solution, by the way,
as I intend to collate the information collected ...
Sunny f/16 and 20D RAW11 Apr 2005 21:43 GMT2
I have written about how insufficient the "sunny f/16" rule is for Canon
RAW. Here is a visual reason why you might want to use "sunny f/11" or
even as high as "sunny f/8", depending on what is in the scene, if you
shoot RAW, and like to expose to the right:
Sigma APO Super II 70-300mm for Nikon?11 Apr 2005 19:25 GMT7
Can anybody recommend or discourage the Sigma APO Super II 70-300mm f4-5.6
lens for my Nikon D70?  I am in need of a long lens and I am intrigued
by macro [I know this lense is not a true macro].  I have been comparing
this lens to the Nikon 70-300G, Nikon 70-300 ED and the Tamron ...
DLSR chromatic aberration issues with wide angle lenses11 Apr 2005 12:25 GMT27
I seem to remember reading somewhere that DLSRs can suffer from chromatic
aberration issues at the edge due to the angle of rays striking the sensor
via the various layers of filters being steep. And this is an issue for wide
angle lenses but less so for APS-C sensors (x0D) than ...
DSLRs really aren't cheap yet11 Apr 2005 12:19 GMT28
Not when you consider that in order to get the
same lens quality as the top "point and shoot"
cameras you have spend at least 70% more than the
crappy "kit" lenses the DSLRs come with.  Even
LENSBABY: recent link in dpreview news letter - WHY11 Apr 2005 11:35 GMT9
Anybody care to enuciate the value of this $150 attachment? Looks like
it gives what a vignette+gaussian blur layer does in photoshop. The
selective sharpness is 101 too; or say Andromedas "VariFocus Mask'.
I like the name "lensbaby". That's pretty cool. What am i missing
Lumix DMC-FZ5 ordered11 Apr 2005 07:50 GMT2
The old Olympus C-2000Z let us down again at a party last night.  Sad, as
this has been a very good camera for recording events.  I'll post back in a
week or so and let you know what I think about the Panasonic.  This will be
our "family camera" as I use a 20D for serious amateur ...
Used Fuji S2 body11 Apr 2005 06:05 GMT13
I've been offered one for $830.00 in good shape.
Should I take it or is it too outdated now?

Searching for new lenses for 300D...11 Apr 2005 03:14 GMT5
A year and a half ago, I purchased the 300D EOS Digital Rebel with the
18-55mm kit lens.  Almost immediately, I added a Quantaray 100-300mm
f4.5-6.7 Telephoto.  I have been very satisfied with the camera, the
colors etc. but as m7y technique and timing improve (nature, kids

The latest update is available. Has anyone installed it or know it has
it caused any problems?
