Nikkor vs Sigma (70-300 f4-5.6)07 Mar 2005 09:52 GMT12
Okay, I realise it's hardly clash of the titans, but which of these
is the better?  I refer to the Nikkor G (not the ED), and I'm not 100%
sure if it's the Sigma Macro APO or the Sigma Macro Super DL (or
whatever).  Opinions on either would be good. Here in S.Africa
20D/Rebel XT lens confusion06 Mar 2005 18:42 GMT6
Ok, I'm confused now...
I'd like to buy a 20D or 350D/Rebel XT, and I want the 18-55 IS EF-S
lens.  My confusion lies in that there seem to be several "kit" lenses
being offered with these cameras.  Amazon has the 20D with a USM 18-55

Moon shots06 Mar 2005 06:32 GMT93
Took some shots of the moon last night.  Geez, I never realized how bright
it is.  My exposures were way up there.  (500mm mirror lens on D70.)  I
started with a tripod, but the shutter speeds got up so high I don't think I
needed it.  I'm also at 8000' with very little light ...

Guess what jerk.  Comcast is blocking all but the first copy of each
attempt.  They have been in touch and are working hard to find you.  When
they do, expect prosecution.
BTW, adding references to threads in these newsgroups was a big mistake.  It

*ist DS built in flash over exposure05 Mar 2005 05:26 GMT9
Just purchased this unit, and am *very* pleased with it thus far, but I
notice that on subjects that are 15' or closer the auto flash really
overexposes the picture (subjects), even when setting the flash exposure
compensation as low as it goes. I've tried the various modes, but ...

I'm new to the world of SLR's and such,  my first digital camera is now
about 5 years old, and has died, so I want to replace it!
however I keep insects and invertebrates as a hobby, and would love to take
some pictures of them, larger than life so to speak..  I believe this is
Quiet DSLR?03 Mar 2005 10:30 GMT49
I was out and about shooting 'candid' photos and got to thinking abou
the D70 I was using - why is it so noisy when taking a shot?
I understand when the lense motor kicks in that there is noise, bu
taking the photo should be mostly electronic. It would be handy to hav

Depth Of Feild02 Mar 2005 20:09 GMT32
Are the depth of field markers on a 35mm film lens correct when the lens is
used on a DSLR with a 1.6x magnification factor?
If I have a depth of field of three metres to infinity using a 50mm lens on
a film SLR and I put it on a DSLR, does the DSLR still have a depth of field
