Studio lighting - need advice please!12 Jan 2005 05:00 GMT8
I get a lot of requests from family, friends and customers to do high-key
portraits but have had to turn them down as I've simply not got the set-up
and equipment to do it.
So I'd like to get myself sorted and have convinced SWMBO to let me convert
Sensor cleaning solutions11 Jan 2005 20:06 GMT1
1. photosol.com .... swabs, wipes, just for the new sensors.
2. techni-tool.com.... 74 gram CO2 Tech Duster with holder and nozzle.
the combination and some common sense solves all sensor cleaning problems.

D70 resolution: 3008x2000 - what's the 8 all about10 Jan 2005 17:36 GMT35
The D70 resolution is 3008x2000 pixels.
What is the extra 8 pixels all about?
Not that it matters I suppose, just curious.
Opening Pentax *ist DS RAW .PEF files in Windows 98?10 Jan 2005 08:16 GMT24
Pentax say on the box that the Windows system requirement is Windows
ME/2000/XP and they're not kidding. I'd hoped that the limitation was
something to do with requiring USB 2.0 support for uploading images,
which I didn't care about as I've got a USB card reader which is quite
What format fo save NEF files from APE310 Jan 2005 00:32 GMT9
Thanks to this forum I am able to load NEF files from my Nikon D70
into Adobe Photohop Elements 3 and see the main adjustment screen with
histograms and all the other goodies. I love the Digital Darkroom
approach! Since APE3 can't save in NEF format, I have to choose
D70 Image Size Question09 Jan 2005 13:53 GMT5
I am a beginner with the D70. I had always thought that selecting
normal|medium|fine|raw determined the size of the picture. On the D70, it
appears I can select different sizes with different image qualities. For
example, I thought that selecting Fine would automatically make the ...
Digital SLR for Wide Angle Fan?09 Jan 2005 01:11 GMT18
I've noticed that some low end digital SLRs are starting to move into
a price range that I might consider. The problem is that I really like
wide-angle photography and it seems that only special (read:
expensive) lenses will do what I want due to the smaller-than-35mm
Canon 20D Flash Underexposure08 Jan 2005 21:31 GMT3
Anybody troubled with flash underexposure from his/her 20D?  On mine, when
flash is the primary light source, 1 or 2 stops of exposure compensation
seem to be needed to get the correct exposure.  This, with both the built-in
flash and with a 580EX.  Canon seems to be unaware of the ...

UV Filters on Digital08 Jan 2005 16:35 GMT5
I just want to try and clear something up.  I have a D70 and am going to add
a UV filter, primarily to protect the lens, but what I really want to know
is will it have any haze reducing or other effect on the images (as it would
on a film camera).
eos 300d patch08 Jan 2005 15:27 GMT11
I've seen a couple of posts relating to a patch that enables more functions
on the 300D, can anyone point me to where I can get hold of it please.

NEF file to Photoshop...07 Jan 2005 19:59 GMT15
I am trying to extract RAW (NEF) files off of a Nikon D70.  Using the
Nikon Capture Editor (4.1.3), and asking it to open directly in photoshop,
or to save it first as a TIFF, then opening it with PS 7 manually ...
either way, I get an error message from Photoshop that says
