Would D-70 get cheaper?16 Jan 2005 18:45 GMT7
Hi everyone. I was thinking of buying D-70. Looked through the prices on the net, do you think it would ever go below $1,000? What happens during the sales? Like St.Valentine's next month, does it ever get cheaper?
dSLRs absolutely require digital darkrooms16 Jan 2005 18:13 GMT7
I do not think you can get better than snapshot quality images out of the
D70 without a lot of post-exposure work. Apart from adding more pixels in
the next generation sensor or eventual improvements in exposure latitude I
am not sure how this will change in the near future. I ...
Meaning of a 2 strength close-up diopter for macro16 Jan 2005 17:55 GMT11
I asked this in another thread but didn't get an answer. Specifically,
I'm wondering what effect this would have on a 400mm zoom lense which is
only capable of getting as close as 7.5 ft. I don't understand what they
mean when they say "changes the closest focusing distance from  ...
D70 and Picture Project 16 Jan 2005 16:04 GMT13
Just received my new D70 and am trying to install Picture Project 1.0 on PC with Windows XP Professional. Error message: "Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows".
Anyone else with this ...
D-70 Lenses - 18-70mm vs 24-120mm16 Jan 2005 09:22 GMT4
I am considering the purchase of the Nikon D-70. The kit lens is the
18-70mm. I am thinking about the 24-120mm lens instead (will cost
about $170.00 more) because of the image stabilization and longer
focal length. Are there any other advantages or disadvantages (other
D70 Firmware update not loading16 Jan 2005 00:10 GMT6
Hmm, after writing this, I read the last line in the readme file:
"PrecautionDo not use a Microdrive to upgrade firmware."
I think they are just saying if it fails for some strange reason your
camera will be frozen. I did it before. I guess I can try it with the
Nikon D70 outfit comes with an inferior quality lens?15 Jan 2005 17:09 GMT7
Is it just me or is the 18-70mm zoom lens that comes with the Nikon D70 kit
really garbage?  I mean when I shoot with it wide open, it is noticeably
fuzzy, darker in the corners and distorted.  This is particularly evident
when taking pictures of buildings at night where those ...
Sensor cleaning15 Jan 2005 07:00 GMT57
I am about to embark on cleaning my 20D sensor (got a few dust bunnies at
f/22). I already made some posts about this on r.p.d (but not a specific
question). My first plan of attack is to use the Rocket blower (which I
ordered from B&H). My plan is to have my significant other hold ...
Considering SLR15 Jan 2005 04:30 GMT25
I am considering replacing my Oly C740.  I use it mainly for taking pictures
in gymnasiums of wrestling matches (fast action, not terribly well lit).
I've been told that an SLR will do an acceptable job without a flash, which
is virtually impossible with the Oly.  I also am very ...
Focus Screen14 Jan 2005 19:12 GMT13
I've got a Canon EOS300D / Digital Rebel and a Tamron 28mm-300mm zoom.
I've had it for one year now and I'm starting not too like it.
I miss not having a focusing screen that I'm used to in regular SLR cameras
(I come from an old Olympus and Nikon heritage). Things like split-image ...

Do I need Nikon Capture14 Jan 2005 00:06 GMT11
I have downloaded a trial version of Nikon Capture and also bought
Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0. I really like the APE3 NEF filter with
the histograms for R, G, and B, and have found it easy to take a NEF
file and adjust it. I also really like the fact that APE automatically
Digital Rebel external flash13 Jan 2005 23:19 GMT8
I want to get an external flash for my Canon 300D (Digital Rebel). Now,
I can't afford the Canon's high end flashes but would like to have
feature like variable power, swivel, tilt, etc. Two prime candidates
are the Sigma EF-500 Super and Sunpak PZ-5000. Both seem priced at
with or without tripod mount13 Jan 2005 23:07 GMT7
I am looking to buy a used 80-200 f/2.8 lens for my D70 and was wondering
what the consensus was on the tripod mount option? The older nikkor version
has no tripod mount. Am I going to miss this terribly? I will mostly use
this to take indoor sporting event pics and pics of my ...
