| Finally got it. | 27 Jan 2005 01:23 GMT | 15 |
I got my D70 today. I've just been using it in Auto mode, and tried some of my older Nikon lenses on it in manual mode. So far my impressions are that it is extremely fast, both focusing and shooting. It feels like a "real" camera, very solid and nice to hold. JPEG photos ...

| Anyone know how to stop Adobe Photoshop from... | 27 Jan 2005 01:00 GMT | 17 |
deleting the EXIF data from the jpeg version of the photograph and installing it's useless crap instead? Other programs, such as Micrografx, leave the data alone. If I can't fix it, I will delete Photoshop. I don't need their useless ad in my

| Nikon D2x: Are You Going to Get One? | 26 Jan 2005 19:14 GMT | 57 |
Now that Nikon has finally told us the release date and price of the D2x (Feb 25, MAP of $4,999) are you going to get one? Personally, I think the price is a little high, but still competitive. I would have liked to have seen more aggressive pricing for this one.

| f/8 is the magic aperture for sharpness | 25 Jan 2005 18:48 GMT | 15 |
According to this page f/8 is much sharper than higher or lower apertures: http://www.photodo.com/art/Impr13.shtml. Scroll to the bottom for test shots at f/1,8-f/22 I had no idea. It seems too simple, surely it varies depending on the

| The cost of digital flash units! | 25 Jan 2005 17:33 GMT | 15 |
The Olympus flash for the E1 is around $700 Can. What ever happened to the days when the average SLR user used a Vivitar 283/285 that cost about $100/ea??

| Film to digital | 25 Jan 2005 13:25 GMT | 15 |
Is there anything to be said for shooting with a 35mm film camera and letting whoever does the processing put the images on a CD for you? I realize your digital camera eliminates this step, but what are the pros and cons, and when would this method be preferred, if at all?

| Dust visible at f/36 | 24 Jan 2005 22:29 GMT | 19 |
I just tried a shot at f/36 with the D70 & it looks like someone splattered mud on my lens. Is that sensor dust? It is invisible at reasonable f-stops. Here is a 100% crop: <http://www.edgehill.net/1/?SC=go ...

| Digital photos of slides/negatives (D70) | 24 Jan 2005 15:24 GMT | 9 |
I've got old negatives I'd like to 'scan' using my D70, so I can put them on webpages, share easily, manipulate & get printed, and also archive for safety. What kit would be best for this? What kind of lens? A macro

| DigiReb & Sigma Flash | 23 Jan 2005 18:51 GMT | 8 |
A new Sigma EF-500 DG Super ETTL flash showed up yesterday, so last night I hooked it to my DigiReb when some friends came over, and took some indoor shots. Nearly all of the them came out underexposed - anywhere from "significantly" to "majorly" underexposed. I tried both in Av ...

| Tripods | 23 Jan 2005 11:18 GMT | 4 |
Hi, I recently picked up the Gitzo Explorer aluminum G2220 and hands down believe it is a great tripod, however my focus is macro. If I ever upgrade from the Nikkor 105mm to the 200mm will these legs still work? If I should just go bigger now what should I get? Please keep in mind

| Is this tyical difference between zoom and prime? | 22 Jan 2005 18:21 GMT | 38 |
I am looking to move up from a Canon S45 to a SLR. I was thinking of getting a 70mm-200mm f2.8 Zoom (probably a Sigma not a Canon L) until I ran across this: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/forgotten-400.shtml
