Sigma - Canon Compatibilities30 Jan 2005 23:56 GMT8
Just got an EOS 10D, I planned to use my existing lenses, these are Sigma
28-135 and 70-300,  Because I had read about some compatibility issue with
Sigma lenses and the possibility of them needing re/chipping,  I contacted
Sigma UK with model and serial numbers and they ...
The 10.5 mm Fish-eye30 Jan 2005 17:23 GMT8
Okay, I have been playing around with Nikon's 10.5 mm fish-eye on the D70
for a few days now. My intention is to eventually use this lens to take
instructional photos inside the airplane, but meanwhile I have been
experimenting with interior shots and some scenics.
D70 - Histogram - what am I looking at?30 Jan 2005 16:05 GMT13
OK, so I've rtfm'd, and have an idea of the basics, but any tips on
the histogram?   I gather horizontal axis is brightness and vertical
is nr of pixels.  (Not actually described in the manual).  I suppose
you want the 'centroid' to be reasonably centred, and fairly well

how "bad"  really are  Canon "consumer-grade" zoom tele lenses?29 Jan 2005 20:56 GMT16
Many of Canon's non-L grade zoom tele lenses, sometimes called consumer
lenses, get poor ratings in most of the lens reviews I've looked at.  They
are especially poorly rated at their longer focal length end (e.g. the 300mm
end of the 75-300mm zoom).  Ratings include statements ...
How do I get great results from my D70?29 Jan 2005 20:36 GMT51
Is there a good source that will teach me how to get the best results from
my D70?  I keep hearing about "developing" the image in Photoshop
(unsharpening masks, etc.), and I'd love to know if there is a good step by
step primer out there.  I have PhotoShop, but only use it for ...

Hey Guys,
Was in Goa (India) over the last weekend. Shot a lot with my
Canon using two lenses:
- One is the kit lens, the Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

Extended warranties.  Worth it?29 Jan 2005 02:44 GMT8
When I ordered my D70 they were really pushing a 3 year warranty at about
$130.  I passed, but I still have 30 days to change my mind.  IMO it looks
like a lot of these warranties have many loopholes in them, including not
covering the lens.  Also, I get a one year warranty, and ...
EOS20D image sharpness28 Jan 2005 17:44 GMT11
I've heard a few reports about the images produced by the 20D being a
little soft. Can this be corrected by sharpening in Photoshop (I use
version 7)? If I've taken several hundred of images on a 20D can I
sharpen them quickly in batch mode? And finally will I only notice lack
To whoever is running this newsgroup28 Jan 2005 16:59 GMT17
I accidentally posted a newspaper column with an attachment to the group.
If you could delete this message I would appreciate it.  I'm hoping it won't
show just because of the attachment.
Thanks, and sorry.  Just a dumb mistake.

Software for D70 NEF processing27 Jan 2005 20:49 GMT14
What I would like, ideally, is a slimline program that will open
a NEF file, let me adjust saturation of the red/green/blue channels,
contrast and white balance, crop and save as JPG.  I don't want my
images organized for me, or any auto-corrections.
