| Canon Rebel/300D remote RC-1 vs. RC-5 | 22 Dec 2004 22:40 GMT | 3 |
Is it worth the extra few dollars to get the RC-1 for the Rebel/300D? Does the added functionality work? Most important to me would be the instant shutter release vs. the 2 second delay that is described for the RC-5. TIA About me: longtime beginner amateur photographer living on ...

| digital photographer magazine, is it good? | 22 Dec 2004 11:07 GMT | 1 |
I see that digital photographer magazine has a large review of the new Phase One P25. This indicates to me that the magazine is geared towards the advanced photographer. Is that so? Is it a good mag? (I have not seen it because I live in the UK. I would have to take out

| Prejudice against non-photo camera brands | 21 Dec 2004 21:38 GMT | 37 |
I notice most people are buying Canon, Nikon cameras, with Minolta, Pentax and Olympus bringing up the rear, pretty much what it was with film cameras. Not many people mention

| Nikon D70 vs. 300D | 20 Dec 2004 11:31 GMT | 18 |
I apologize in advance, I imagine this has been hashed out quite a bit. Searching through groups.google, however, didn't really seem to turn up as much useful material as I would have hoped for. I'm NOT trying to start a "which is better" thread, I'm just trying to compare ...

| File Size Question . . . .Canon 300D | 20 Dec 2004 10:39 GMT | 4 |
I am new to the digital world having just got a Canon Rebel Digital (300D). Perhaps this is a simplistic question. . . But . . . I am not getting the file sizes that the owner's manual indicates. I have the camera set to L - smoothed and anticipated files in the 3.2 meg. However ...

| Pentax question - has anybody done this? | 20 Dec 2004 05:06 GMT | 4 |
I have a 1969-vintage screw-mount Spotmatic which I greatly enjoyed using back in the good old days. I burned a lot of various-kinds-of-chrome with it, with some pretty good results. But over the years I didn't have time to do photgraphy with any degree of seriousness. I ...

| Street shooters! Cult lens in the making? Pentax 40mm f/2.8 "pancake" | 18 Dec 2004 18:01 GMT | 16 |
Reminiscent of the Nikon 45 f/2.8 but, alas, designed for the digital crop factor. Crops out to 60mm equivalent which puts it in a class of its own, I s'pose. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0412/04121501pentax_pancakelens.asp http://www.dpreview.com/news/0412/pentax_40mmlens.gif

| Good digital camera for low light conditions | 18 Dec 2004 17:26 GMT | 12 |
I'm looking for ideas on a digital camera suitable for flashless photography in low light conditions such as concerts, horse shows, and forests. I'm looking for compact, but I haven't seen any point 'n shoot or ZLR cameras that are very good with low light.

| Kodak DCS as a Canon replacement | 18 Dec 2004 12:35 GMT | 1 |
I'm looking to replace my Canon DSLRs in the new year (sooner is the price is right) and I came across the Kodak 14 megapixel camera which accepts Canon lenses. How smart are kodak? Make a camera and let others bother about lenses! Anyway, they're $3500 at B&H. There is also a $1000 ...
