d70 vs 20D31 Dec 2004 05:34 GMT5
Is it fair to compare D70 with 20D technology?
Aren't these over a year apart in GA
I shoot with both and slightly prefer the 20D

Sigma vs. Tamron for EOS?31 Dec 2004 02:13 GMT73
Since that last thread was so popular ;-)
In general is Tamron glass better, worse or the same as Sigma?
I've never tried any Tamron lenses and was considering trying a 28-75 f/2.8
or even the 28-300 since it seems the magazines rate them so highly (not too
A question about ISO on a hacked Canon dRebel29 Dec 2004 21:44 GMT6
I've loaded the hacked code into my dRebel and it works fine, so far.
When I set ISO to 3200, is this done by bit shifting or analog
amplification ?
In some usenet group someone said that 800 _might_ be the fastest
Nikon NEF import into PS CS problems29 Dec 2004 16:41 GMT5
OK, a little problem with CS and RAW. I've been using the Adobe RAW plug-ins
(upgrading as they have become available) to work on NEF (Nikon) RAW files. No
problem until recently. Every time I've opened an NEF into CS, I got the
entire, multi-tabbed menu.
When will electonic viewfinders improve?29 Dec 2004 15:32 GMT30
Right now, in some instances using non-autofocusing long lenses,
they are very poor for trying to focus.  What is needed are
finer pixels in these things.  I'm wondering if they've reached
a wall since I've seen no improvement in viewscreens in five years.
D70 supports Write Acceleration (WA) on Compact Flash?28 Dec 2004 22:49 GMT11
The Lexar website http://www.lexar.com/digfilm/wa_cf.html
does not list the D70 as supporting WA, but I don't know
how up to date it is.
For some reason I have not been able to get to the

20D hot pixel27 Dec 2004 20:30 GMT11
I got one white hot pixel. Should I bother to exchange it? How many
people have got a perfect sensor? My last Digital Rebel (2nd one
actually, the first one was exchanged for another reason and I didn't
doa pixel test) had no dead/hot pixels. Thanx.
Phase One Selling Of Capture One Division ?27 Dec 2004 14:22 GMT1
I was interested in purchasing the Capture One Pro software, but have heard
that Phase One, who produces the software, has been looking to sell off the
Capture One division to another software company.  I noticed that the Phase
One website is in a state of disarray and that you ...
photography of a brillant moon26 Dec 2004 21:51 GMT53
Has anyone got the solution to getting a good image of the full or rising
moon using a Digital Canon Rebel on a tripod?  I'm not having any luck
either on manual or auto focus, automatic, manual, time, apperture
preferred, whatever.

going pro w/ 20D?25 Dec 2004 21:50 GMT18
Hey folks,
I'm in the process of making a huge career change, going from Computer
Programming to Photography (actually Photgraphy was my original career
many years ago, so I'm returning to my roots).
Maxxum 7D brochure - detailed25 Dec 2004 16:10 GMT6
For whomever may be interested, a detailed description of the 7D is available

Yes, it is a marketing doc, of course, but it also has a pretty complete system
second 20D dies...25 Dec 2004 07:06 GMT41
This is the second 20D I've had that totally died after changing lenses. No
amount of "battery out", batter in has any effect. Geezz these cameras are
sh.t! Why does it happen in the high season? why on Fridays? Why just before
the second busiest day of my year? Because it can, I ...
