problems scanning Ilford PanF-50 negatives30 Nov 2006 03:22 GMT5
I'm trying to scan Ilford Pan-F ISO=50 120-size negatives with my new Epson
Perfection V700 scanner.  I tried using Vuescan software for scanning, but
the Pro version of Vuescan hangs endlessly upon startup, and I'm awaiting
tech support to help me out with it.  In the meantime, ...
C-41 formulas30 Nov 2006 02:55 GMT3
Does anyone know a C-41 formula that doesn't contain formaldehyde in
the stabilizer? If so, I like to see it. Formaldehyde is very difficult
to obtain and very toxic. Thanks
contrast filters30 Nov 2006 02:49 GMT4
I recently purchased contrast filters for my camera/black and white
film. I was wondering if it is preferable to use contrast filters on
your enlarger when making prints instead of on your camera? Is there a
difference? Should they only be used on the enlarger to make up for an

Correcting leuco-cyan dye in developed C41 film29 Nov 2006 18:32 GMT3
I've been scanning many of my 4x5 C41 negatives.  Though I have what I am
fairly confident are correct profiles for my scanner (an Epson 4990) and
for the films I've used for the past decade or so, I find that some not
insignificant fraction of my negatives have _very_ strange color ...
Equipment needed for a darkroom27 Nov 2006 16:26 GMT8
My girlfriend is a photographer, and I want to buy her all the
equipment she would need to set up a darkroom in our bathroom.
Unforunately, I don't know a lot about photography and darkrooms.  I've
done research, and "helped" her develop a set of prints once, so I know

Nova do a couple off cements, would they do the job?
Many thanks

Acutol.19 Nov 2006 17:55 GMT3
Years ago, the literature for Acutol mentioned the inclusion of Hydroquinone
and Metol, in the "Film Developing Cook Book" by Steve Anchell & Bill Troop,
it mentions Phenidone. Now I`m confused by this statement, is Acutol MQ, PQ
or MPQ?

Durst colour heads - mix and match?17 Nov 2006 00:10 GMT2
I recently bought a Durst DA-900 B&W enlarger for my g/f, and have
discovered that the CLS-201 (I think) is the correct head for colour, and
seems to be as rare as rocking-horse droppings - anyone know whether any
others will fit / can be made to fit the DA-900? Ideally I'd like ...
