a really stupid question:09 Dec 2005 22:55 GMT17
thats no lie either. it is, i can admit, very stupid:
when mixing formulas does, for instance, 1:4 mean 1 part x to 3 parts
y, for a total of 4? or 1 part x to 4 parts y for a total of 5? after
years of doing the former im starting to have this creeping uncertainty
Darkroom Spiders gone wild 09 Dec 2005 06:31 GMT26
Ok, it's been 2 months since I opened the door.  It looks like a set for a
horror film!  These manic spiders produced miles of web in every cubic inch
of space.  I don't have bugs so I can't understand how they create something
from nothing.  Could there be a "darkroom" odor that ...
Durst repair in NYC?08 Dec 2005 20:46 GMT5
My trusty Durst Pictochrom is having keyboard issues: some of the keys stick
and I have to press a few times to get a response, and some other minor
electrical issues. Can anyone recommend a local (NYC) repair shop? I
contacted Jobo USA but I now understand they are defunct. Is ...
Acu-1 and Acufine With the T and D Films?08 Dec 2005 19:34 GMT4
I don't recall reading of how well Kodak's T
or Ilford's D films do when processed in either
of those two developers. Acu-1 is the
one-shot version of Acufine. I think

Elementary questions on film handling.08 Dec 2005 06:38 GMT22
I'm just starting out on the B&W develope and process road, and am slowly
gathering the gear to start a basic darkroom.
Everything I've read states that unexposed film (I'll be using B&W 35mm)
needs to be handled in complete darkness, you can't even use a safelight

Storing Rodinal04 Dec 2005 23:31 GMT9
This morning I found a store that still has ten bottles of Rodinal.  I
want to buy them but I'd like to know how long an unopened bottle of
Rodinal will keep and what is the best temperature for storage, room
temp, fridge...?

Fogged/metallic edges to paper03 Dec 2005 14:12 GMT5
I've printed some recent negs last night in my loft darkroom. Initially
I started out with 12 x 16 resin MG IV and noticed on development a
bronze/silver metallic looking diffuse border surrounded the entire
print, extending about 1cm from the edge. I tried a sheet from the

Hi all, I'm looking for formulations of fixing bath without using
ammonium thiosulfate. By now I have the Ilford IF-2 formulation (sodium
thiosulfate 200 g, potassim metabisulfite 12.5 g per liter of water).
Any opinion about this one?
