Strange problem printing today; fogging31 Dec 2005 04:14 GMT18
I had a strange problem printing some film today that I've never
experienced before in my years in the darkroom.  I'm getting what
looks to be some clouding in some of the shots, and it's driving me
nuts.  Two photos in particular have been giving me grief, I've posted
immersible heaters29 Dec 2005 13:49 GMT3
I want to give Nelson's Gold Toner a try and I want to heat it to 100F but
how? Fishtank heaters that I've seen only go to about 90F.

Negative wallet - Paper or plastic?28 Dec 2005 23:30 GMT8
A photographer friend of mine had insisted on using paper negative
wallets to archive his negatives, his rationale being that the paper
can "breathe" and therfore the enclosed negative will wether changes in
humidity better.  Now, his regular stockist won't carry paper negative
Shelf Life for Metol28 Dec 2005 17:15 GMT26
Anyone know the shelf life for Metol.?
I just got some mush from D76H the other day, and it got me wondering
if a year from the Formulary might be too long. Mixed fresh that day.
I've used it and sworn by it for HP5 sheets for a while now, since
Seasons Greetings27 Dec 2005 05:15 GMT6
Hello to all,
May you all have a happy holiday and a prosperous and happy new year and
may those you love be healthy and happy in the year to come.  And may
all your film be exposed properly, developed properly and print well.
Philips process timer PDT 201525 Dec 2005 23:41 GMT5
I am currently putting my darkroom back together in my basement; I used
to do a lot of photography but haven't had a darkroom set up since I
moved 18 years ago.  I have a PDT 2015 and the associated PDB 2053
probe, but I can't remember how they work and I can't find the manual.
Writing on the back of prints24 Dec 2005 13:42 GMT10
I'm starting to write notes on the back of my prints so I'm wondering about
the long term effects re pigments migrating through to the front, spreading
out and/or compromising the archival properties of the print. I'm using a
china marker, what about a #2 pencil or ball point ...
Rodinal and Patrick Gainer23 Dec 2005 03:44 GMT4
Gents & Patrick:
I think I've assembled the ingredients, but I'd like to form a
rudimentary understanding of the differences between Patrick's formula
(below) and the one I dug out of Anchell which follows. I must admit that I

el nikkor problem21 Dec 2005 19:33 GMT10
I got El Nikkor 2,8 / 50mm enlarging lens ( old version )
that looks as new outside, but has a whole bunch of
black paint's bits and chips inside. Not one or two, but a
whole lot. So my questions are :
Microphen clones21 Dec 2005 17:17 GMT4
I have a question aboue Microphen look-alikes. One is ID-68, published
by Ilford. The other two are slightly different formulations (found on
Internet)
There arwe three main differences between these three:
Photograms without an Enlarger..Light Bulb Wattage?20 Dec 2005 21:38 GMT4
I have been creating a few photograms in my darkroom with a regular
incandescent 40watt bulb, but I have to flash the light for only a second to
get a descent print.  I was wondering if anyone has made photograms at home
without an enlarger, and what type and/or bulb wattage should ...
Standing Development with Dilute Compensation Developers19 Dec 2005 22:34 GMT18
I have had great success using Rodinal at 1:300 or so without agitation
on thin films such as Acros.  With the news that Rodinal is no more, I
must start looking at other developers (and am curious to experiment
anyway).  What is a good starting point?
FS: ILFORD PHOTO clothing!!19 Dec 2005 18:20 GMT5
I have ebay auctions on right now for a custom jacket and shirt, both with
the ILFORD PHOTO logo on them! They are custom employee items that were
gifts from the company to ILFORD employees several years ago, you can't find
them in any store or even on the internet, only here in my ...
Developing 247519 Dec 2005 08:55 GMT2
Rumaging thru my pile of outdated film at the bottom of my freezer I've
unearthed my last roll of Kodak 2475 from among the rolls of Ektachrome 100,
Kodachrome 25 and Agfa CT18 (RIP). I'll give it a whirl and go for the
grainy portraits effect. Should go great with my uncoated ...
