When to Press the Button of the Timer?13 Apr 2005 16:36 GMT34
In film processing, I believe I need about 5 seconds to drop the
developer into the tank.  And, I want to follow the recommended
developing time published by Kodak to procss the roll, but a question
rised, when to begin timming? right before dropping the developer or
Ilford XP2 in E6 Chemistry13 Apr 2005 03:19 GMT12
As an experiment I shot a roll of Ilford XP2 Super, and cross processed it
in E6 slide chemistry, to get B&W slides. I shot the roll at EI200.
At 200, they look underexposed - quite dark and muddy. I'd estimate under by
about 1 stop, so if I try this again I'll shoot at 100 (In ...
What happens as developer nears exhaustion?12 Apr 2005 18:16 GMT4
I'm cheap and don't like to pollute more than I have to, so I use
developer until I've processed what the maker says it can. I have 2
liters of D-76 in which I've developed 30 4x5 sheets so far. Kodak
sites 32 as the maximum (4 8x10 sheets per liter). I have 2 sheets
delta3200 with rodinal: ok but takes a little bit longer than 11 minutes12 Apr 2005 17:14 GMT25
yesterday evening i developed 2 of my delta3200's with rodinal.
i used rodinal 1+25, 20°c. then i fixed for 8 minutes with ornano
rapid fixer and the usual 6/7 minutes in agepon, agfa's wetting agent.
i must say the negatives show a good contrast and a reasonable tone,

Saunders/LPL  670 VCCE question11 Apr 2005 18:52 GMT1
Can anyone direct me to where I can find a downloadable manual for a
Saunders/LPL 670VCCE enlarger? If not, my question is simple. The head has
two different choices for variable contrasts labeled 1 and 2. Which one
would I use for Ilford paper?
newspapers selling photographic prints09 Apr 2005 18:22 GMT11
mar2405 from Lloyd Erlick,
I've been meaning to ask a question lately.
Newspapers these days are offering for sale what the
advertising copy says are 'silver gelatin' prints of
Questions about AP develop tank09 Apr 2005 13:42 GMT19
I got a AP develop tank, I feel that's very good.  But I still have two
question about it.
1) There is a table as below marked on the bottom of the tank, and I do
not fully understand its meaning.  Can anyone explain that for me?
Maco -- manufacturer or marketer ??09 Apr 2005 09:16 GMT12
apr705 from Lloyd Erlick,
I've never been clear about whether Maco makes
photosensitive goods or just markets.
Someone on rpd remarked, "Maco make an ortho film..."
Can I Reuse F-5 Fixer and Acid Stop Solution?08 Apr 2005 05:22 GMT7
I decided to throw away  D-76d 1:1 developer every time after
processing. But for the fixer and stop solution, can I reuse them?  If
I can, how many times can I reuse them before throw out? Thanks

Is color printing easy?07 Apr 2005 15:58 GMT21
I'm currently considering buy a enlarger mainly for B&W work.  I am not
very sure  whether I should buy a enlarger which can do color printing
also.  so, if color printing is not so hard than B&W, i may like to buy
a enlarger which can also do color, if the answer is not, i will ...

Question about glass negative carriers07 Apr 2005 02:19 GMT5
I was just staring at a nice Beseler 8346 carrier (glass, 6x6,
for the 45 enlarger) and the wheels started turning.
Why didn't/doesn't anyone make a glass carrier with the _top_
of the upper glass ground?  Wouldn't this help diffuse the light,
Tmax 100 versus APX 10006 Apr 2005 21:32 GMT61
I'm about to order some 100 asa film -- I usually shoot 400 asa or 50
asa films so I'm not that familiar with the various options at 100.
Would people recommend Tmax 100 or Agfa APX at the same speed?
I'll probably be using Rodinal initially but I'm open to other
