Xtol, time, agitation and HP5+25 Jan 2005 16:53 GMT2
I developed HP5+ 35mm film exposed @ EI 400 in Xtol 1:1 @68 degrees for
12 minutes in a small tank agitated 2 gentle inversions to start and 2
gentle inversions every 30 seconds and yielded overdeveloped too
contrasty negatives. Kodak reccomends 12 minutes which I gave it, but
Making smaller pictures25 Jan 2005 16:17 GMT13
I know nothing about darkroom equipment. I am interested in reducing
picture sizes. Specifically I make my own circuit boards, but I am
wanting switch over to photographic methods to be able work at smaller
sizes. The plan it to print an image to a transparency and then produce
pink/purple stain23 Jan 2005 20:08 GMT5
I just found a pink/purple stain on a print.  I was sure that this print had
been completely washed.  What might be the source of this stain?

What to do with old Photographic Paper22 Jan 2005 04:04 GMT17
I want to ask the group about alternatives to disposing of old photographic
paper.  I'm not using the paper nor is it likely in the immediate future.
The paper is probably 12 + years old and has not been kept in a chilled
environment.  I hate to throw it away.  I can't imagine ...
Xrays and film from overseas.21 Jan 2005 01:15 GMT2
I?m planing to buy some film from a store at the States. I live in Spain and
since I?ve never done this kind of shopping I wonder if I should be
concerned about getting the film X-rayed during the shipping to Europe.
What are your advices?
Distilled vs Deionised for mixing chemicals20 Jan 2005 21:34 GMT8
anyone have any idea whether there is any appreciable difference
between distilled and 'deionised' water for the purpose of mixing
chemicals from powder (like D-76)? Is the use of special water
important at all?
Dark lines on negatives20 Jan 2005 18:20 GMT3
I develop T-Max film in Xtol in Patterson inversion tanks.  In my last
batch of 3 rolls, the roll that was on the bottom came out with dark lines
throughout the roll on the side that
was nearest the bottom of the tank.  The
g-claron 9/240 for enlarging?20 Jan 2005 15:40 GMT9
I have the opportunity to get a G-Claron 9/240 at a very reasonable price. I
was thinking of using it for enlarging. Bad idea? Currently I use a Componon
150mm and it's adequate, but not stunning.
Black Spots on Print Pre-Soak? or Enlarger?20 Jan 2005 02:20 GMT13
Can black spots on a print be caused by dirty elements in a condensor
enlarger? It's either dirty element, or an air bubble. The thing is, I
thought I'd try "pre-soaking" my negs in H2O before developing and I'm
wondering if that was a bad idea.
fixed but still slightly pink20 Jan 2005 01:51 GMT5
I have used kodafix at the recommended dillution.
My Fuji Acros is still slightly pink, even after 6 minuntes in fixer
solution.
Does this pink cast degrade negs at all even though it is correctly fixed?
Processing one roll19 Jan 2005 05:50 GMT15
I have a two-roll 35mm tank, but I only want to process one roll. Do I need
to waste an extra 8 oz. to top it up? Will I have a problem with bubbles if
the tank is half empty?
bad condenser lenses18 Jan 2005 01:02 GMT6
I believe my Omega DII has a bad set of condenser lenses.  I've tried
cleaning both pieces of glass and swapping them, but I still get a few
white spots on my prints.  In fact, I can even get the spots to appear,
without any negative, on my baseboard by adjusting the focus.  Another
silver deposits16 Jan 2005 20:41 GMT14

affect developing time at all, or is it still good?
