A strange question for y'all.23 Nov 2004 18:24 GMT3
I'm looking for some Phenolic Aldehyde resin, having great trouble
sourcing the stuff.
I've been informed that this (or a very similar substance) is used in
darkrooms.  Perhaps something like pyrogallol?
Abrasive Remover23 Nov 2004 18:15 GMT2
I dislike liquid negative scratch removers.  I did use the long
discontinued Kodak abrasive remover but my supply has run out. Is there
a comparable replacement?
Not using a stop bath when developing film?23 Nov 2004 16:58 GMT23
The college I go to have recently decided not to use a stop bath when
developing film as the gasses it produces seems to agitate some students
with asthma.
Can anyone tell me why it would do this to the asthma suffers, ie. what
Red filter included with contrast filters...23 Nov 2004 07:45 GMT8
I bought a used darkroom from a friend and it came with VC filters...
along with the filters (in the same box but not cased with the other
filters) there is also a red filter (very RED red)  same construction
but has it's own case - what's this for?
Blue dye antihalation in 400TX?22 Nov 2004 23:16 GMT4
Help!  I've been using TriX for the best part of 50 years, and tonight developed my first roll of 120 400TX.  I've always used a pre-soak before the developer, but never before have I seen a rich blue liquid come out of the tank when emptying it.  Is there a water soluble blue ...
Dark room light - Edison mount...22 Nov 2004 21:21 GMT2
Is edison mount the same as a standard light socket?
Need Help Removing Old Developer22 Nov 2004 17:50 GMT7
I bought a used black and white paper processor when I removed the racks I
found that fixer and deverlper had been left in the unit. The fixer broke up
and came out in cakes. The developer is about a 1/4" thick in the bottom of
the tank and very hard to scrape out. Any one out there ...
Barbieri darkroom lamp22 Nov 2004 16:05 GMT6
I picked up a Barbieri Colorlamp 50 dark room lamp for next to nothing some
time ago.  I've since seen it offered at around ?200.  What's so special
about it?  It's just a case, power supply, some amber LEDs, a colour filter
(which I needed to re-align in mine), an On-Off switch and ...
Darkroom Ponderings of Art22 Nov 2004 03:09 GMT14
I had two interesting happenings this week, I do on occasion some B&W
printing  for a nice elderly lady, her daughter was a photographer and has
been deceased for quite a few years. In any event over the course of the
last three years I have reprinted a few negatives for her to ...
Coupla questions (like I only ever have one, right?)22 Nov 2004 02:15 GMT8
#1)  Am I missing something or does PMK Pyro last about a day after
mixed?  I thought it stored longer...I developed identical rolls a day
apart and the second roll, same film, same times, came out
empty..Maybe I screwed up the roll but just wondering...
Question on using C&H mat cutter22 Nov 2004 00:57 GMT1
I just purchased a used C&H mat cutter (a model CH4800-A in case that rings
a bell for anybody).  Previous to this I was using a Logan team system which
I had improved considerably by mounting it to a board.  The C&H is head and
shoulders above the Logan Team system.
Particle counter?21 Nov 2004 20:37 GMT3
Does anyone here use a particle counter in their darkroom and if so is
there any particular model you would recommend?
Thanks
Fun with old film21 Nov 2004 10:33 GMT5
I visited family last weekend and brought some old
family pictures back with me to see if I might be
able to do some new prints from some old (mainly early
1960s) negatives and slides.
Easier way to do exposure step tests?21 Nov 2004 02:27 GMT14
Are there clear test strips with varying opacity that I can lay over
my paper and expose only once yet be able to calculate correct
exposure?  If so what are they called and where can I get one...  if
not, would it be possible to make such a thing?  Perhaps by printing
Newby Question on Chemicals' shelf life...21 Nov 2004 02:20 GMT28
So I just couldn't handle it any more.  I broke down today and bought
an enlarger!  I've been thinking about it for a while now and foaming
at the mouth looking at B&H pages everyday.  Today one of my
co-workers realized I was a photographer and said he had a darkroom
