Alternative Photo08 May 2004 04:35 GMT14
Take a look at some of my varied projects--mostly using alternative
techniques:  gum prints, cyanotypes, pinhole and other unconventional
approaches to photography--at http://www.michael-mccarthy.com
Thanks!
Using hypocheck with film fixer.06 May 2004 10:13 GMT4
Are the acceptable silver concentrations for film and paper fixer the
same, assuming the same dilutions and formulas are being used? That
is, your hypocheck produces a certain ammount precipitate when your
paper fix is bad. If it produces the same ammount when you check your
Cold  Sepia06 May 2004 04:20 GMT6
I've always stuck with selenium, but have decided to experiment with
sepia. I have read were predevelopment, after bleach can result in
colder tones. Any other tricks to making the browns colder. I'm
thinking a burnt umber color, instead of the warmer sienna tones.
Add Kodak Brown to KRST?05 May 2004 09:34 GMT12
I've googled this group and found numerous posts saying that KRST at 1:20
doesn't provide adequate archival protection because it won't tone the
highlights.
Would adding 1:200 of Kodak Brown Toner to the 1:20 of KRST help without
Bergger Versus Forte04 May 2004 23:36 GMT7
I can not remember whether it was in this forum that
the question of whether these 200 speed films are the
same was ask. Never the less I have done a side by side
comparision, by my  intial test it appears they are not.
Expired B&W film03 May 2004 22:25 GMT8
I have got hold of a lot of B&W film (Orwo NP15 = 25 Iso) expired 10-14
years ago. Apparently it has been kept refrigerated.
What is the effect of time and what is the best strategy for getting
usable results (if possible) from this material?
Can't find a FAQ so here is my question03 May 2004 08:34 GMT8
What does it take to setup a room in our house to process our own films ?.
What cost would be expected to build it. And what would be the expected
running costs ?
I have never seen inside one of these rooms so i have no idea what goes on
Proper dilution of Kodak Rapid Fixer Solution A ???03 May 2004 06:05 GMT4
I need to dilute Kodak Rapid Fixer solution A only (for fixing prints
that are to be toned) and am unsure as to the proper dilution. I see
one place on Kodak's web site that says 1:3 (which sounds correct for
film but not paper), another that says 1:7). Then again, I've
Neopan 400 + D-23 ?02 May 2004 22:19 GMT1
Does D-23 work well with Neopan400? What are the pros and cons of using such
combination? What dilution would be the best? I shoot only 35mm.
Thanks in advance.

Colour paper contrast. Grades?02 May 2004 21:46 GMT8
B&W paper comes in different grades. Other then paper company ad
copy is there anything that tells you how high/low the contrast is on a
paper? Before you buy it. For example Kodak Portra is supposed to be low
contrast. Kodak Edge is supposed to be much higher in contrast. Is it
Forte Bromofort and Brilliant lll02 May 2004 14:47 GMT25
Just ordered a few boxes of Forte Bromofort from B&H, because of the
enticing $73.00 per 50 sheets of 16x20. Any comments from experienced
users? How's about this Brilliant lll? Both I gather are long toe. I'm
wondering if a cold lite sorce might have trouble making a rich black.

glycin under its chemical name and CAS number-- note the availablitiy

A49 and R09 developer02 May 2004 10:26 GMT3
It is my understanding  that these two developers are old Agfa formulas for
Atomal and Rodinal.
They are alleged to be pre-war & that Calbe who make them are the former
photo chemical part of ORWO.
HIE infrared film02 May 2004 01:12 GMT9
