| Lee Miller, photographer | 31 Mar 2004 16:29 GMT | 1 |
mar3104 from Lloyd Erlick, I came across a file called leemil.htm today. It's a review of a book about Lee Miller, by Elsa Dorfman, who remarks:

| Pre-soak with C-41? | 31 Mar 2004 16:00 GMT | 4 |
Is there any downside to pre-soaking the film with water prior to the chemicals? It would pre-heat my tank and film. I'm using a plastic tank and with pre-heating everything the temp should stay steady for the developer time.

| What film to use | 30 Mar 2004 13:48 GMT | 5 |
Well, it's happened. I have used my last sheet of 4x5 Plus-X and am going to have to find another film to replace it. I have been using quickloads for my colour images, and am appreciating those more and more - no dust, light weight (they even make your

Local photo supply is currently out of Rodinal ( don't know when it will be back in stock). I have good old Kodak Motor Oil ( HC 110) and am looking for some suggestions as to recommended dilution and times with Agfapan APX 400 .

| How long does unused fixer stay usable? | 30 Mar 2004 11:14 GMT | 30 |
OK, this might be a typical beginner question, but then I *am* a beginner... How long does fixer concentrate stay usable in an opened bottle? I've just noticed that the fixer I made from said concentrate yesterday

| Finest Grain | 30 Mar 2004 10:51 GMT | 5 |
I am searching for a fine grain film (and a developer for it) for use in my studio. I have powerful lamps so film speeds like 12 or 25 ISO aren't a problem. Which will you recommend.

| Developing TMax P3200 | 30 Mar 2004 06:29 GMT | 3 |
The only available developer is D76. I will be shooting at ISO 3200. What times/temps/dilutions should I use to reduce the grain as much as possible? I will also be developing TMax 100 and 400 with the D76. What

| Ethol's, UFG, LPD, Acufine, and Diafine | 29 Mar 2004 14:25 GMT | 12 |
BKA's - Ethol's, UFG, LPD, Acufine and Diafine seem to be the only developers available in cans, are there any others? I want to stockpile film and paper developers and besides the ones I mentioned, we're left with Rodinal, HC-110, and PMK as the "longevity champs". How many others ...

| daylight darkroom? | 29 Mar 2004 03:17 GMT | 24 |
I have no way of having a real darkroom. But I wonder if it is possible to do it with stuff such as a changing pup-tent for loading exposed film into a tank, a drum processor outfit like a dev-tec

| Pre-rinse with Ra-4 | 29 Mar 2004 00:25 GMT | 1 |
A while ago some discussion happened on using a pre-rinse to over come green tint on the paper. I did some not very carefull testing. With the paper I cut from a roll of Supra III a rinse really is needed. Not doing it seems to really cause green meanies. OTOH using Supra Endura ...

Any advice on a cheap, readily-obtaining material that I can use to diffuse the light from the enlarger (below the lens). I want to use my color analyzer, with its probe, as an exposure meter.
