| Scanning Old Slides | 03 Feb 2004 07:01 GMT | 1 |
I'm using a HP photosmart scanner to save some 20 year old slides to disk. These slides appear to be in perfect condition to the eye and still project a sharp image, but look terrrible after they have been scanned. I've scanned some newer slides and they look good, so I dont think ...

| Color Printing Hassles? | 03 Feb 2004 04:11 GMT | 18 |
Aside from equipment (color head, analyzer, processing kit), what are the procedural hassles of printing in color? I likely would let the labs continue to process my film and print me an index sheet (about $4 per 36 roll of print film)

| Thin negs with Efke 100 sheet film | 02 Feb 2004 22:43 GMT | 44 |
I'm doing developer tests with Efke 100, and I'm having one hell of a time trying to get a dense enough negative. So far, I've gotten semi-decent results with D-76, Rodinal and Microdol-X, but have had to use very long development times: tonight, for instance, the best I got was ...

| Xtol + Delta 100 | 02 Feb 2004 10:21 GMT | 2 |
I've developed Ilford Delta 100 at 100 ISO in XTOL full strength for 8 mins, agitation 5 secs every 30 secs. Subjects were trees and snow, light was spot-measured on trees and a few underexposure applied. Result: very dark negative, it seems very overdeveloped. Any similar

I have started a phography course where I will be developing my own B&W films. I was wondering what equipment and what the costs of doing this at home would be?

| Is neon light a problem | 01 Feb 2004 21:13 GMT | 11 |
I am finally decided and started building the darkroom in my laundry. During a light-tight check I have noticed that the neon tubes that I use for the illumination of the room is still visible for a while even without power.

| Re photo smell | 01 Feb 2004 19:42 GMT | 7 |
In the past, before a long dry period, I used those almost cubic bottles of HC-110 (I did not mix a stock solution - always concentrated -> working). I remember it had a characteristic smell - kind of rotten (sulfur?). Nowadays, no more.

| Arista.Edu | 01 Feb 2004 19:18 GMT | 15 |
Freestyle Photo just started marketing a new brand of film, Arista.Edu (apparently, "Arista for Educational Institutions"). The only info about its origins is that it's made in Hungary. Can anyone name a Hungarian film manufacturer which might be the actual source of these ...

| edge shadow on negative 6x7 | 01 Feb 2004 13:09 GMT | 4 |
I just developed a couple of 6x7 negatives from a mamiya rb67 camera and some of the frames have a very light shadow on the edge of the frame. There is no detail in the shadow just a very light shadow along the left and right sides of the image. It is not there on all frames. When ...

| salvaging a developer | 01 Feb 2004 03:33 GMT | 42 |
I have a half gallon of Xtol, which I'm sure, will not give proper development because it was made up about 9 months ago. (It's still clear) Is there any type of chemical that can be added to make sure of normal development? I would like to experiment but not sure how to start.
