Fuji Crystal Archive10 Feb 2004 07:15 GMT3
I am about to start using Fuji Crystal Archive Paper.  It is being
used on a Chromega Color Enlarger.  I understand that bulb condition
and voltage play an important part in getting the "correct" filter
settings for exposure on a particular enlarger.  However, does anyone
Point-of-use hot water heater ?10 Feb 2004 00:12 GMT11
To what degree is the output precisely controllable?  Can it be dialed to
the correct temp for film washing without any other controls (assuming you
test and find the right position for B/W (68 degrees, 75 degrees, and for
Color (105 ?) degrees).  The hot water tank is too far away ...
Contact prints of b&w film09 Feb 2004 15:19 GMT11
I would try tomorrow to make contact prints from a b&w 35mm film with
the purpose of viewing the different photos (with a lens) before making
the real larger print.
I have arranged to have a glass to maintain the film in contact with the

5 minute FB print washing time??08 Feb 2004 17:51 GMT7
Why does the bottle of PermaWash indicate a 5 minute final wash time for fiber
prints?  The conventional wisdom seems to be 45 minutes to one hour, even with
hypo clearing agent.  What's the truth.

vision problems under safelight08 Feb 2004 09:41 GMT16
I'm a 42yo male who has worn glasses most of his adult life
(near-sightedness, coupled with astygmatism). I hadn't used my darkroom
setup at home for about a year, until the other night. I had a problem
keeping my eyes focused on the images in the chemicals, under one of those

camera ISO range questions07 Feb 2004 22:10 GMT3
I've considered buying a used Canon manual focus SLR, and I'm about ready to
make a decision, just curious about one elusive point...
What is the ISO range of the Canon AE-1 Program?
Much appreciated if anyone can help me here.  My alternative choice if not
White spots on negs07 Feb 2004 20:43 GMT3
I've read pretty mch everything I can find to get rid of the tiny
white spots on my b&w negs but nothing seems to help. They are only
visible in prints or scans from the negs.
I live in a very hard water area so I'm assuming it's particles in the

I would like to know if the B&J Solar enlarger can be used to enlarge 5x7
negatives.  Does anyone have experience with this enlarger?

split grade printing - can it be done with only G5 +G0 filters?07 Feb 2004 04:47 GMT4
For a long time I've really been into using several exposures at
different grades when making a print.
Sometimes, though, I'll have a print at, say, grade 2 where I want to
dodge highlights only and not the shadows e.g. the whites of eyes - if
120 developing tank06 Feb 2004 20:49 GMT16
Ok, dumb question:
I have a Nikor developing tank I use for processing a single 120 roll.  The
tank requires 1 liter of fluid.
Do I really have a 220 reel and tank?
DIY print washer06 Feb 2004 13:44 GMT10
I have been using a Kodak siphon to wash my prints (RC) but I am going to
start printing fiber and would like to build my own print washer.  I never
print more than 2 final prints in a session and therefore do not need one of
the commercial washers capable of washing many prints at ...
