Having been an amateur photographer and darkroom enthusiast for the last 30 years, I am also a mental health professional and I came across a 56y/o gentleman with a severe case of Alzheimer's Dementia--very tragic for one only 56y/o. In doing the history with

| Why is the sky blue? | 29 Feb 2004 09:43 GMT | 124 |
No, that's not the question, but I have one equally simple yet mysterious. Was talking the other day with someone about evenness of exposure and film latitude, prompting the question: Why do color reversal films have less latitude than negative films?

| Xtol being phased out? | 27 Feb 2004 06:03 GMT | 18 |
Is there any truth to this rumor that Xtol may be phased out. I have just got back into darkroom work with some xtol and to not want to get familiar with a developer that may not be here in the near future.

| Darkroom rental on SF peninsula? | 26 Feb 2004 05:00 GMT | 2 |
It's been 5+ years since I've worked in a darkroom (used to have my own, and worked semi-professionally). Since then, I've moved into an apartment where setting up a darkroom simply isn't going to be an option. I've been away too long, and it's killing me. Like

| Delta 400 & Xtol 1:2 ? | 25 Feb 2004 18:38 GMT | 2 |
I have been using the new Delta 400 and Xtol 1:1 in rotary and the results are just great, so naturally I want to try 1:2 dilution. Has anyone here any experience with this combo? How about FX39? The grain at 1:1 is well under control, and the tonality with red filter is

| Beseler 8341 | 25 Feb 2004 02:39 GMT | 5 |
I've located a Beseler 8341 neg carrier for my 45xmt. Since this is not a current partno, does anyone know if this one became the 8343 (w/anti-Newton glass) or the 8342 (w/standard glass)? Also, is there any on-line documentation for the partno changes? They kind of make me nuts ...

| JOBO 3010 Lid | 24 Feb 2004 12:59 GMT | 3 |
Anyone have a spare lid for a jobo 3010 floating around? I just dropped mine on the cellar floor and destroyed the cogs. Argh. I've got 20 sheets to develop and I'm stuck. If you'd like to sell a 3010 drum with lid I'd be interested in that too.

| Schneider Componon-S 100mm f5.6, double iris | 24 Feb 2004 05:21 GMT | 2 |
I just got this enlarging lens. One ineresting "feature" is it seems to have two sets of aperture blades, each set has 5 blades, but seems only one set of blades can be useful, the other set will just extend/retreat as I rotate the aperture ring, they never get into the

| Help! Newbie and developer/permawash | 23 Feb 2004 23:41 GMT | 5 |
I'm taking an introductory B&W darkroom class at my art college, and we mixed our three batches of chemicals last week: developer, fixer, and Heico Permawash. In pulling out the bottles from the locker this week, I discovered I'd labeled the fixer, but in the general confusion of ...
