Source for photo supplies?22 Jan 2004 05:23 GMT6
Any camera stores by me sell only film, digital cameras, and do 1-hr
processing - no bulk film, paper or chems.  There are obviously a billion
suppliers on line and I would like a recommendation for good service, price
and selection.  Please tell me your favorites.
Paper for printing B&W of old Slides22 Jan 2004 05:07 GMT7
Does anyone know of a B&W photograph paper currently available for
printing of old Slides. I have many old Kotachromes I would like to
print in B&W.  I think it woud be called positive paper.
Thanks,
converting D-2 to 5x722 Jan 2004 03:24 GMT2
I want to convert my Omega D-2 to a 5x7 enlarger.  The negative carrier stage
is just about 7x7, so with some modification, I think it would be possible.
The modifications include:
enlarge negative carrier plate to accomodate larger negative
23C Question22 Jan 2004 03:21 GMT1
I have found a 23C with a difuser (two opague plastic sheets)
rather than a condenser.
How does this effect printing?
Longer / Shorter times?
Lewis Carroll: Pyro Maniac21 Jan 2004 23:42 GMT8
And I mean that in the best possible Victorian way.
I'm ashamed to say I've only just discovered that he'd written an
hilarious poem about portrait photography using the wet-plate (ie,
collodion) process wherein he details in excruciating fashion using
Agfa Professional Signum II?21 Jan 2004 14:04 GMT1
Is anybody using this? I'm very happy with the Kodak Porta paper
but it feels like tissue paper. The data sheet for the Agfa paper shows this
to be a heavier paper.
  Thanks
Latex Gloves21 Jan 2004 08:08 GMT49
I have a nasty cut on my hand so I thought I'd try out some latex gloves
for bw processing. I'll need some sort of glove later in the year when I
start using pyro. Anyway, I notice that the box warning states that the
gloves aren't safe for use with chemicals.
Anyone using Dunco enlargers?21 Jan 2004 04:01 GMT2
I'm considering buying a Dunco enlarger, specifically the 67 standard
column with color head (distributed by Versalab).  Just wondering if
anyone who has used it has any opinions on it?  Thanks.
Color Printing21 Jan 2004 01:35 GMT8
Is anyone still making color prints i.e. not digitally?
Does anyone still make color chemistry and paper?
If so, is there any market for a color printing head for an enlarger?
Best Guillotine --- Ingento?20 Jan 2004 21:07 GMT1
Very soon I'm going to buy a guillotine paper cutter. Any of the
really best of them are under a hundred bucks. I'd like some
suggestions of which to buy. The Ingento solid maple looks
very good. A 12 inch from Dick Blick (sp) is under $80.      Dan
Printing question20 Jan 2004 10:41 GMT15
Here I am with another beginner question.
I have in the recent past developed several rolls of B&W film and
following the suggestions given within the NG I had good and consistent
 quality results since the beginning.
UK RA4 Chemistry - where do I get it?19 Jan 2004 20:24 GMT1
Hi I'm in the UK and about to set up my used table top print
processor, a thermaphot with roller transport and am trying to find an
online supplier of dev and blix - that deliver - silverprint don't
deliver the 5l packs ..
Question: how big is a fractional stop?19 Jan 2004 18:21 GMT6
Simple question, right? I expect it to become completely unintelligible after
a few rounds of that Usenet game, otherwise known to lay persons as "telephone".
Anyhow. My question is, what fraction corresponds to 1/2 stop?
Specifically, expressing the difference between two exposure ...
Film curl19 Jan 2004 18:14 GMT13
I've unfortunately purchased some generic 35 iso 400 from Porters. The film
has such curl after processing that I could almost use it as a 6 foot long
straw! Is there anything I can do to minimize this PIA in future rolls or to
help the strips I've already processed?
Pre-cut mats19 Jan 2004 17:55 GMT3
Since I shoot and print full frame whatever format I'm using, I'm wondering
if there's a source of standard size, acid free, 4 ply mats with beveled cut
outs in the same proportion as standard 35, 66, and/or 67/45/810 frames.
Seems that this might be less expensive and less time ...
