Want to try my hand at traditional color printing using a Durst enlarger ( CLS-301 head). My question--Which color printing aids are the best bet for a beginner to get a good print? Kodak has them! Jobo has them? whats the best bang for the buck?

Is there an easy formula to translate f-stops to the percentage of light transmission? As each stop is 50% of the previous stop, where did the numbers come from?

I'm curious as to whether the 120 Jobo film loader with base is a worthwhile investment. ie... how much easier does it make loading 120 film on a spool as opposed to regular hand loading? J Burke

| Anti-UV layer in films??? | 24 Jan 2004 20:55 GMT | 3 |
A couple of years ago I read an article about UV photography and learned that one problem that UV photographers have is that most color films have a UV blocking layer that keeps UV away from the emulsion. Does anyone know if any black and white films, particularly the newer

| Suggested development times for 400TX in Rodinal? | 24 Jan 2004 01:13 GMT | 8 |
It's finally happened - my minuscule stock of old Tri-X has run out and I've just plucked a roll of 400TX out of the fridge. I'm quite particular to Tri-X souped in Rodinal because you get that old-fashioned 'reportage' feel, but the Massive Dev chart does not

| meopar enlarging lens | 23 Jan 2004 01:03 GMT | 1 |
I recently bought an old Meopta Magnitarus for my 4"x5" b&w printing. It came with a Meopar 180mm f/4.5 enlarging lens. What is the quality of this lens? Should I replace this lens by a modern Schneider or Rodenstock?

| Colour developer failure [Ra-4]? | 22 Jan 2004 13:00 GMT | 4 |
I think my developer is dead and I'm just trying to get an idea if I should worry about anything else. It's been both long enough in time and number of prints to kill by developer and I'm not suprised. But assuming the developer is totally dead what should the paper look like ...
