| Easier Tray Developing | 31 Jan 2004 11:35 GMT | 3 |
Being new to 8x10 I'm still looking for easier ways to do things. My first tray-developed films were a hassle. But ... I got in my tanks & hangars. Unfortunately there's not enough shot each time to justify filling the tanks.

| The difference in enlarging lenses | 31 Jan 2004 10:37 GMT | 23 |
I recently purchased a Elwood enlarger with a pair of Wollensak Graphic Raptar lenses. Specifically the enlarger is a late model, all cast aluminum 5X7 Elwood. While quite large it is also quite light and I can easily pick up the entire unit and move it

| motor base | 31 Jan 2004 00:54 GMT | 5 |
How important is a motorized base for doing Ilfochrome (or RA-4 color printing)? I have a drum and thats it. I have not tried color printing yet, but would like to try soon.

| Using old b&w films (60') | 30 Jan 2004 15:44 GMT | 5 |
My grandfather gave me a box full of old b&w films. Most of them are labeled "develop befor 1968". They aren't used (exposed). I tried one of these "1968". It has got 40 ASA. I took some pictures as if it was an normal film and tried to develop it. I used Rodinal diluted 1:40

| Darkroom or Scanner? | 30 Jan 2004 15:34 GMT | 63 |
Following your various useful suggestions I have finally set up my development system for BW films. I have already done some rolls all of them with good (in my opinion) results if compared with the rolls developed by the lab.

| Fresh Rodinal | 30 Jan 2004 15:32 GMT | 14 |
Is there a way to determine if Rodinal is still fresh? I haven't used mine in a long time and I want to test out some FP4+ with it. It is the color of tea. Should I toss it? It was in its container and the top was on, but it had been opened a while (about a year) ago.

Want to try my hand at traditional color printing using a Durst enlarger ( CLS-301 head). My question--Which color printing aids are the best bet for a beginner to get a good print? Kodak has them! Jobo has them? whats the best bang for the buck?

I am looking for a good review on the difference between commonly used developer (HC110/Rodinol/Ultrafin...) when used with Kodak 400TX and HP5 (including when pushing the development process). Thanks,

| Quantalog Macbeth Calibration Strip - from "carlo.garau@tiscali.it" | 29 Jan 2004 03:25 GMT | 2 |
I am looking for the calibration strip to calibrate an analogic Macbeth Quantalog Densitometer. The one I had had with the densitometer has been lost, and in any case, after a so long time, I was not sure about the real density of the test

| Gaining (or lossing) grades on a FB paper | 29 Jan 2004 00:33 GMT | 18 |
Just a little question: In your opinion, what is the tolerance of a fixed grade FB paper? I mean, how is it possible (having a good developing control and using i.e. a two bath developer) to push or pull the contrast of a FB paper?

| Which is better? digital cameras or older crappy cameras that use film? | 29 Jan 2004 00:28 GMT | 21 |
If people like both of them why don't manufacturers make a camera that uses both technologies like those dual DVD/VHS players?

| Print Dryers for Flattening Prints | 29 Jan 2004 00:13 GMT | 9 |
I've done some reading on Google Groups on flattening fiber based papers when drying. One thing I didn't see discussed was the virtue of using electric dryers to aid in flattening the prints. Here's one that's relatively cheap and promises to dry up to 30 8 x 10's an hour:
