Black-&-white film processing lab in Singapore17 Dec 2003 21:13 GMT1
Any recommendation for a good quality black-&-white film processing lab
in Singapore?
Newbie questions about material testing17 Dec 2003 18:52 GMT113
Having seen Beyond the Zone System recommended on this group a number
of times, and so have been studying the book. I am reading it (fourth
edition) forwarrds, backwards, upside  down, and sideways, both
standing on my head and right-side-up, and somehow the concepts are
Beseler 67 dichro blows bulbs help17 Dec 2003 15:21 GMT17
My old trusty Beseler 67 dichro keeps blowing bulbs. They last only a
few seconds. I've tested the socket with a voltage meter and the voltage
looks corect.
Could this be a problem with the "stabilized power supply" unit? Has it
cause of uneven vertical strips in print16 Dec 2003 17:24 GMT1
A couple prints, using Oriental Select Warm-Tone FB paper, have two vertical strips the length of the paper, about 1.5"
wide, that are slightly uneven.  Since these strips are very straight, I'm guessing the paper is from a bad batch.
Anything else that could cause this?  Paper ...
fortezo and low contrast developer16 Dec 2003 10:33 GMT10
Good morning from italy ;)
I'm using fortezo paper (grade 2) , i like it, but, sometimes i need  less
contrast.
Normally i use neutol WA, using a low contras developer, based only on
can developer affect contrast?16 Dec 2003 08:57 GMT5
I switched to Ilford Multigrade from Dektol because I like mixing concentrates better than powders, and it was
competitively priced at my local shop.
I'm not positive, but it _seems_ like I have to add more magenta to my light in order to get decent contrast.  Is this
possible or ...
TD-3: what's this?16 Dec 2003 03:08 GMT3
I've red about TD-3 developer for Technical Pan. It is a
phenidone-free product, and seems to be wonderful for TP. Any idea on
its composition?
Another question. In my lab I've some tolyltriazole solution. Is it
Beseler 45a for VC?16 Dec 2003 00:13 GMT2
I've been using a Beseler Universal 45 VC for B&W work and find it's very
solid (but expensive!).  Now I need to add another VC head and am curious
about the 45a system.
Can anyone comment about the suitability of the 45a system for B&W VC work?
sepia toner- p. oxalate?15 Dec 2003 21:47 GMT8
I want to mix up some Kodak T-7a sulfide sepia toner (Darkroom Cookbook #
102) but I don't have any potassium oxalate. Is it really necessary? Doesn't
the ferricyanide do most of the work in the bleach solution? I want to use
this to intensify film btw. Thanks.
LEDs as enlarger light source15 Dec 2003 18:54 GMT77
I was doing some GOOGLE searches on LEDs to build a "poor-man's ZeeG-align"
and I am now wondering if anyone has experimented using white light LEDs to
replace the light source of enlargers?  Heat could be greatly reduced,
perhaps eliminating the need of a fan in a Omega Dichroic II ...
Cleaning fungus from enlarger lens15 Dec 2003 12:31 GMT4
I have seen a previous thread dealing with fungus inside a lens. The
thread was not very positive regarding the possibility to have the lens
clean but I would like to try anyway.
The lens is a Rodenstock Ysaron f=75mm 4,5.
Price of premixed Lauder chemicals?15 Dec 2003 09:45 GMT2
I was thinking of trying Lauder chemistry.  The D-76-like developer
was $9 a gallon.  Is that a typical price?  This shop was pretty
overpriced on a number of items.  Tnx,
Keeping properties of benzotriazole14 Dec 2003 20:28 GMT9
I have a bottle of benzotriazole that is at least 25 years old. It is
unopened. Is it likely to be OK?

Tetenal RA-4 kits...longetivy14 Dec 2003 18:07 GMT2
B&H sells their Mono PK RA-4 kit, for 2.5 liters, for $29.95
They also sell a 10 liter kit for $46.75, but it doesn't say "Mono".  I think its the same thing as the part numbers are
#TERA42.5LK and #TERA410LK.
Is there a gotcha here?  It seems like a no-brainer to get the 10-liter ...
How much can I expect to sell these enlarger lenses for?14 Dec 2003 12:45 GMT3
I was given some enlarger lenses that I don't have any use for since I
don't have my own darkroom.  They're all in excellent shape (optics
completely clear and no cosmetic damage).  Can anyone suggest what sort
of prices I should ask for (USD)?
