| Contact Prints From Enlarging Paper | 31 Dec 2003 23:25 GMT | 6 |
Looking down the road I thought I'd check for chuck-holes ahead of time. Is there any problem with using enlarging speed paper for contacts? I came across a good article about makeing direct negatives using reversal processing and low cost ortho film. The article is associated with

| enhancing paper developer | 31 Dec 2003 22:50 GMT | 5 |
Although I try to obtain correct exposure and proper development I connot always achieve this on every frame in a roll. So at times I increase or decrease magenta as required or even split printing for achieving the contrast that looks best for me, I would, still, like to go ...

| lens flare and separation | 31 Dec 2003 20:23 GMT | 9 |
This is a camera question, but I figure the r.p.d people are the most knowledgeable ;) I'm wondering if the spot on this picture, on the left underside of the bridge, looks like lens flare. Flare from my 35mm camera doesn't look like

| Exposed Tmax 3200 at ISO 200 | 31 Dec 2003 16:25 GMT | 10 |
I just exposed a roll of Tmax 3200 at ISO 200 by mistake. This was all informal portraits of a caucasian person in good light- no financial value but these are pictures I'd really like to salvage if possible.

| Contrast filters | 31 Dec 2003 06:23 GMT | 1 |
It seems that my enlarger (Beseler Printmaker 67 for B&W) has two places that can accomodate contrast filters: Below the lens in what they call 'accesory filter holder' and inside the condenser lamphouse in between the condensers.

| below the lens filtering | 30 Dec 2003 20:48 GMT | 10 |
Is this in any way inferior to a filter drawer system where the filter is held above the lens? Another thing, as I'm shopping around for a 6x7 capable enlarger, I've spotted the Belseler Printmaker 67. At B&H they indicate it has a below the

| Film & toner | 30 Dec 2003 03:49 GMT | 10 |
I'm in the process of setting up a community darkroom locally & have collocated a developing area/sink with a toning area/sink in a 100 sq ft lab (10 sq. meters). It's occuring to me that some polysulphide & sepia toners have the

| Omega D2 questions | 30 Dec 2003 01:54 GMT | 3 |
It appears that in order to print to multiple formats (in addition to multiple lenses) you either need multiple condensors, or a single cold light source--is this correct? Pros and cons of these. I realize the D2v would be prefered, but can't seem to locate any and I'm impatient!

| Thomas Safelight Questions | 30 Dec 2003 00:06 GMT | 1 |
I have a couple of questions about Thomas Safelights. 1) does the low pressure sodium bulb get dimmer over the course of it's life? Or can the ballast get weaker causing the bulb to be dimmmer?

| Saint Ansel Rediscovered:Calling All Zoneheads | 29 Dec 2003 23:16 GMT | 26 |
I was looking at the S.F. Chronicle online this morning when I noticed this article. I hope the link works. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2003/12/20/DDG7U3QDG91.DTL Did Saint Ansel have a secret life? These photos are so far away from what

| Book published tones vs. Print tones | 29 Dec 2003 19:56 GMT | 32 |
Many of the books that I have as a guide to fine printing, such as Kevin Bubriski's "Portrait of Nepal", all have a print coloration that I cannot match. My toning ( selenium and brown) of warm or cool toned papers ( almost all of them) looks reddish or brown by comparison. My

| Tech Pan & bubbles | 29 Dec 2003 07:58 GMT | 12 |
I've developed my first 120 size Tech Pan using POTA, 12 mins, agitation 3 sec every minute. I've treated a lot of 35 mm TP in the same way, wit no problems at all. Instead, with 120, I've found strange "bubbles" photograms no. 10 and 11, not in the whole film,

| Citric acid in stop bath | 29 Dec 2003 05:13 GMT | 16 |
I just realized I have citric acid in my pantry. I use it when baking sourdough bread in very tiny amounts. What I buy is Sour Salt, available in the Kosher section of just about any supermarket. Can someone give me a recipe for a citric acid stop bath?

| Fuji Super Prodol: mixing instructions? | 29 Dec 2003 04:54 GMT | 1 |
I want to run a test with Neopan 1600 dev. in Super Prodol but I can't find the mixing instructions for the powder - correction: they're mentioned on the package, albeit in Japanese and my Japanese just isn't good enough :-)) At www.fujifilm.com there doesn't seem to be any info ...
