| Fixed enlarging easel | 28 Oct 2003 02:17 GMT | 7 |
Hi, I have an adjustable enlarging easel. But I shoot 4x5 inch and mostly enlarge the whole of the negative at different enlargements. I always have to reset my easel to the same measures. I know fix easels, but

| Paper Latitude Question | 27 Oct 2003 17:58 GMT | 5 |
We talk about print film having a 5 stop latitude. Does anyone know off hand what the latitude of say Ilford fiber matte paper might be? Or a grade 2 paper? I'm in the process of experimenting with digital negatives and I want to compress the latitude to fit the paper. I don't have ...

| cleaning an old negative | 27 Oct 2003 08:14 GMT | 8 |
I found an old B&W 4x5 negative that I had taken years ago and simply left in an empty 4x5 film box with others. I printed it in Photoshop and found that I had to spot the print pretty extensively, a fairly easy thing to do digitally, but I would now like to print it on photographic ...

| What happened to Kodak XTOL? | 26 Oct 2003 14:58 GMT | 9 |
It's been a while since I developed any film. When I went to the store to buy some supplies, I asked for my usual XTOL but told it was discontinued. Can anybody recommend a replacement? I was using it as my all-purpose

| starting in RA-4 vs. Ilfochrome | 26 Oct 2003 09:11 GMT | 14 |
I'd like to give color a shot someday and am trying to gather some information. I'm strictly a hobbyist. For color shooting, its seems that I get more gratification from using slides rather than negatives. To make prints of my favorites, I've so far

| C-22 Bleach Fix composition | 26 Oct 2003 07:11 GMT | 3 |
I know that the C-22 process used ferricyanide for a bleach, but I don't have detailed explanation about the exact steps used. You cannot do a blix with ferricyanide right? Or can you? Thanks,

| Q: processing Kodachrome 25 color slide to get B&W? | 26 Oct 2003 01:56 GMT | 59 |
I have been given a few rolls of Kodachrome 25 color slide film and have been told that they heard of a way to develop it so that it turns out as a B&W slide instead. A process that I could probably do with the right chemicals.

| Good enlarging lenses, I forget... | 25 Oct 2003 18:37 GMT | 26 |
Been a while since I had a darkroom so forgive this question please. I picked up a very clean near free Beseler 67C with EL Nikkor 50mm f4.. I remember that the Nikkor 50mm F2.8 was better than the F4.. I always get confused on the naming of the Schneider lenses...

| Darkroom construction question | 25 Oct 2003 05:47 GMT | 8 |
I am in the process of building anew darkroom. THe space I have is an outbuilding with three windows approximately 18 x 24 inches. I need to block them out in a way that is not permanent, perhaps something I can remove at any time. Does anyone have any good ideas for this? Thanks ...

| Ilford SFX in bulk | 24 Oct 2003 14:53 GMT | 1 |
I am looking for Ilford SFX in bulk 100'. Anyone has an idea if there is such animal and where I can purchase it? I also was wondering about the Agfa equivalent - APX 200 S - that I heard about. Any of the two might be fine as long as it is available.

| Borax+hydroxide=metaborate (my way) | 24 Oct 2003 00:21 GMT | 3 |
The biggest problem I have faced when mixing meataborate is how pure is the hydroxide? It will absorb humidity and carbonic gas, so it's weight/activity will change as it ages.

| Toronto Darkroom Rental | 23 Oct 2003 22:01 GMT | 3 |
I am going to be moving to Toronto in the spring and am thinking ahead about possible darkroom rental facilities. I would prefer something downtown, and ideally somewhere that does not charge by the hour. I would like to do open tray fibre based b&w printing in a space I can

| Mounting Old News Print | 23 Oct 2003 21:27 GMT | 10 |
I've done lots of mounting of photographs, but now I want to mount and frame the front page of the April 15, 1865 New York Herald which covered the assassination (attempt) of President Lincoln. I've come to realize that I have no idea how to do this and am looking for advice.
