Does the 30D have a 'silent mode'? ...where it's possible to take
photographs without the usual indication beeps, shutter noises, etc.,
happening? (Google mentions the 40D having the silent feature.)

My account with Flickr is up in January and have become bored with Flickr.
I was told either Smugmug or Pbase are the ones to go for.
They both seem to have accounts for around $30-40
Which of these two would you recommend or is there a better one out there?

It's a sad day to be a Canon shooter when you see news like this!  I hope
Canon was smart enough to use a Nikon shutter and focusing system in the 1Ds
Mk III.

A well-respected photographer with no axe to grind who owns both platforms
does a head-to-head comparison.  After reading the article it would seem
smart money goes to the D3!  Way to go Nikon!
