Surfing gallery update29 Nov 2005 08:53 GMT2
We've had some very strong winds and wild weather down here in Sydney the
last few days- so the swell is up. Quite a crowd out at Cronulla point (as
usual) and some nice waves to boot:

Megapixels gone mad29 Nov 2005 07:55 GMT12
Look out wallet - I've just seen some pretty amazing stuff, straight from a
39 Mp back for Hasselblad by Phase One.  If peering at your monitor and
zooming, zooming, zooming into ridiculous detail is your thing, then you'd
better start saving for one of these babies.  From memory ...
Leica/Contax RF service29 Nov 2005 07:43 GMT1
Greetings, where in Australia (Perth preferred) can I get reliable
services on Leica/Contax RF camera/lens? Specifically, I need to get
some shimming work done on a lens, not a biggy job. Thank you.
Storage devices29 Nov 2005 00:15 GMT20
For sometime I have been looking at buying a new storage device for use
while away from my computer. Does the new Ipod, Creative Zen Vision or PSP
put a new slant on picture storage?
I know Vision is not available here yet, but i am waiting for an os trip.
Memory card for Nikon D2x28 Nov 2005 11:40 GMT8
In the Manual "Scan Disk" is mentioned as approved (page 248).
Would the 4GB ScanDisk x80 speed be suitable?
Not mentioned in my manual, possibly because of advances in technology since
printed.  Lexar 4GB is approved.

Photo Scanning Questions  28 Nov 2005 01:06 GMT6
Hi people
I hope I have the right Ng to ask a few questions about scanning photos.
I have just got myself a HP 1610 multifunction printer/copier/scanner and I
would like to scan in all of my old photos.
Newsgroup access27 Nov 2005 11:41 GMT1
A slight off topic request....but,
I have suddenly no access to newsgroups via outlook express which is
how I usually view aus.photo.  The list shows up but it can't then find
whatever newsgroup I want to go to, plus the ones I normally post to
On-going Arthur Pappas Scam Saga27 Nov 2005 10:39 GMT2
Further to my previous posting re scammer Arthur Pappas (may not be his real
name as has also used the names Peter Giovanni and Peter Jakovich).
He scammed me out of $850 and refuses to reply to my emails.
After my previous posting, he contacted me and promised to repay the money,
Canon 350D27 Nov 2005 10:31 GMT44
So I haven't had an SLR before and I am thinking of getting a Canon 350D
with the standard 18- 55mm lens and just wonder if it is worth spending the
extra to get a 55-200mm lens? I found a 75-300mm lens to go instead of the
200mm would this be a better option?
