Someone else post a film thread.07 Sep 2008 18:04 GMT11
I note that there has been virtually no threads dealing with film on
this group, other then the few I started.  If no one else is going
start a film related thread then I really don’t want to hear about how
this is a 35mm “film” group.
Astia replaces Kodachrome?07 Sep 2008 16:48 GMT4
Over at APUG quite a few folks have realized
that the latest improvements to Fuji's Astia - smooth
coating of emulsion side to make it easy to scan,
more consistent and vibrant colours - have placed it
[SI] September mandate - "Wide" - 3 weeks to go.07 Sep 2008 16:10 GMT15
I've been shanghaied by Furman and Piggens, but as the suggested mandate
meets my own criteria of accessible to all and not overly abstract, I
think it's a good one.
Therefore, the mandate is:
35mm film users should be mad07 Sep 2008 16:00 GMT64
On more on topic thread.
35mm film users should be mad that film scanners are still far too
slow.  It really seems that by now we should have film scanners that
could scan a frame in a few seconds.  Has the market for new film

[SI] archive of past shootins06 Sep 2008 15:24 GMT42
I found a tool to DL the entire Pbase/shootin photo set into a directory
structure.  Even generates a half-assed index for each mandate with
thumbs...
If anyone wants a copy of the archive, pls contact me by e-meil.
[SI] call for mandates and guidelines06 Sep 2008 14:23 GMT32
First, thanks to all who participated in the most recent round,
breathing a little more life into the SI.  The factors that contributed,
other than my constant begging for photos include the 3 per photog limit
(which most took advantage of) and the open mandate allowing people to ...
Canon 17-8506 Sep 2008 12:38 GMT5
Hi people, I have the opportunity to buy an EOS 40D with Canon 17-85
zoom lens. I've no doubt about camera, what about the lens? It seems
ok for travelling, both for weight and for covered focal range, and
for the cost too! Please let me know your opinions. Thanks all.
[SI] I'm lost06 Sep 2008 11:05 GMT12
I've got a camera and I'm not afraid to use it.  Just need to
know what to shoot.  Mandate me, baby.

[SI] "Open" Critique06 Sep 2008 02:30 GMT57
Time for more insightful critique from someone with the artistic eye of a
gerbil. Please take it all with a huge grain of salt. Believe it or not, I
have no artistic education.

P SHOP LE VS Elements05 Sep 2008 20:50 GMT24
After using P Shop LE 5.0 for about 8 years, I am having
much difficulty with it. That is, it will not load, or function any more.
I have tried every damn solution/fix I can think of. I un-installed and
re-installed it. I have performed every maintenance procedure that
What NPR considers important05 Sep 2008 05:46 GMT17
I made the mistake of listening to NPR coverage of the election speeches.
When Romney had finished speaking, the NPR info babe started to remakr how
there was the lowest level of diverstiy in the audience of the Republican
convention, in 40 years. The fewest African Americans at the ...

The Cycle of life. A picture tells a thousand words. Nature decided to
tell a story... Birth - Life - Death so simple, so astounding.
