Wanted:Film Recorder25 Feb 2010 00:41 GMT20
Looking for a film recorder. There are 2 types, a CRT or LVT. What it
does is take a digital image and displays it via the CRT, where a camera
is then used with negative film at the other end of the device to take a
picture of it. Polaroid, Agfa, and Lasergraphics are some of the
Try out this website.  APUG24 Feb 2010 20:46 GMT5
For those that use film, there is a great website out of England you should
check out.  It is www.apug.org which stands for Anolog Photography Users
Group.  There are sections for every type of camera from polaroid to extreme
large format.  There are other sections devoted to such ...
Awesome Canon Service !24 Feb 2010 10:33 GMT18
A month or two ago I had to send my Canon 70-200 f/2.8L in for service
after it had fallen and torn up the lens mount.  It cost me about $200
to get fixed, but when I got it back I swear they sent me a new lens.
My old lens was beat all the hell (I'm very tough on equipment) and

I have a beloved Olympus OM2 which has a sticky shutter. Is there a
quick fix for this until I can afford to have it fully serviced?

Went to one of these last night.  It's pretty interesting.  Anyone can
be a presenter.
Each person shows 20 images for 20 seconds each and talks about them.
You can show anything you want .... your baby pictures, a recent
Anyone still shoot film?18 Feb 2010 01:33 GMT386
I've got four dSLRs, but  I miss shooting film, so come Christmas, my mom
wanted me to take pictures so I dusted off my old ElanII, 28-105 lens, and
bought a roll of Kodak Gold ( nothin' particularly fancy about this rig )
with a 580ex flash took some snaps and had the pictures ...
BW developing16 Feb 2010 08:38 GMT27
Taking off from another thread here, does anyone have a good,
understandable recipe for developing black and white film.  As someone
said, it's not rocket science, but some of the references I've looked
at have made it seem that way.  I'm tired of waiting 3-4 weeks to get

Scott,
Regarding evolving English, I suggest you read "The Road" (Cormac
McCarthy) for a dose of rule breaking - in a book that is bound to
become a literary reference, it has won the Pulitzer and other prizes.
[SI] New Mandates!11 Feb 2010 02:05 GMT24
OK, here's the deal: in an attempt to encourage participation, the SI
Dictator has decided to announce multiple mandates with a "capture
date" so you can shoot for multiple mandates, and take more time for
the harder mandates. With that in mind, here's the next three

PAPER CLIPS LOVE THE FAB 5D2 !02 Feb 2010 23:59 GMT18
Ever wonder what 11 million paper clips would look like?  Well, if you
go to Whitwell, TN like I did today you can see for yourself.  This
