What Type Of Monitor Is Best For Viewing Pics?31 Oct 2007 00:27 GMT19
I few days ago I posted to a computer newsgroup to ask expert advice
on computer monitors.  I was told CRTs are the best way to go if I'm
retouching photographs.  I don't really retouch them.  I don't have
Photoshop but I do use Microsoft Picture Manager for slight exposure
Bargin Deals on Photography Accessories29 Oct 2007 05:22 GMT3
Some good deals can be found at link below. Shipping is free but it
takes about two weeks to get to the USA from Hong Kong. I have bought
some flashlights and other things and can verify that you will not get
ripped off and customer service is very good. Many people from the
the AIM of LIFE .28 Oct 2007 21:55 GMT9
What is your purpose in life? What is the rationale behind our life?
Why do we live in this life? These questions frequently intrigue
people who try to find accurate answers.
People provide different answers to these questions. Some people
Rebel G Manual28 Oct 2007 03:40 GMT4
Well its been a while, and I actually had forgotten how aggravating
the Canon manuals can be.  I had a new photographer bring me her Rebel
G.  I looked forever in the manual and couldn't find anywhere where
the button was to switch the metering from evaluative, to center

This is a very old post from a Nikon mailing list archive. Hope some of
you appreciate corny humour. In this thread, the differences among
collectors, users and bargain hunters was being discussed.

How long after a new product has been released do they usually come
out?  Ballpark.
I'd like to get one for my 40D, but don't see them listed anywhere yet.

Coolscan 9000 limitation27 Oct 2007 16:56 GMT4
Anybody knows why the 9000 is limited to scan (only) up to 6x9 and not 9x12
or even 9x17?
It seems it could be possible to scan "longer" than 6x9. So where is the
limitation?  ......in the software?
This News Group26 Oct 2007 20:13 GMT12
I have been "lurking" in this group for only a short time, hoping I might
read something of interest regarding the subject.
unfortunately I have decided to unsubscribe due to the childish nature of a
lot of the postings. I am sure it is only a few people acting in this manner
What kind of advice do you give when asked?26 Oct 2007 17:22 GMT22
I frequent several internet message boads, etc.  On one, a general-type
board, some people occasionally ask for photography advice.  Generally,
most of these people are just average people wanting some nice shots of
their kids to print and/or e-mail to friends and family and they ...
Fujica Half24 Oct 2007 04:51 GMT9
I just picked up a Fujica Half at a garage sale, but I'm not sure what
sort of condition it's in. I haven't tried loading any film yet, since a
roll of film would cost about as much as the camera. It looks like the
meter might not work, and if I press the shutter release button, ...

General question to scanner software23 Oct 2007 17:31 GMT14
When you after a prescan adjust the histogram for darkest and lightes point.
Is this a post processing only?   .....or will it adjust the A/D converter
to place all its 16 bits (0 - 65535 gray levels)
inside the darkest and lightes point so you get a better dynamic range in
PING:  Mark Morgan!23 Oct 2007 14:32 GMT3
I've heard about the wildfires, winds and evacuations in California
and I'm wondering if you and your family are ok.
