Macro with a 70 -200 Zoom!18 Jul 2007 01:03 GMT1
Sigma last year introduced a really sweet rival for Canon's 70 -200 F2.8
white monster.
No IS but a really great macro facility, very well suited to a 5D.

Magnetic Circular Fisheye ?17 Jul 2007 08:24 GMT2
first I want to apologize for my poor english :)
I would like to try a fisheye to play with these kind of pictures.

What makes the "Rule of Thirds" work?16 Jul 2007 18:35 GMT132
Yeah, yeah, I know, rules are made to be broken, be creative, think
outside the box, it doesn't always work, for every rule there's an
exception, yada yada yada... but, it's still a much-taught and accepted
"rule".
Sony Carl Zeiss 135 f/1.7 -- too sharp?16 Jul 2007 18:33 GMT5
Wide open (f/1.7, 1/800, open shade, WB@7500K, from RAW, Maxxum 7D, ISO 100)
Unsharp maks... note the staircase in the middle, back petal.  This is
apparent in the RAW file as well.  See last linked image [W/O sharpening])

Help with next addition to Canon outfit16 Jul 2007 00:23 GMT16
I have a Canon Elan 7 with a speedlight flash, a 50mm prime, 28-105
zoom and a 75-300 IS zoom.  I am now considering adding a digital
camera body to my bag and need some help.  A budget of $600 to $700
puts me in the ball park of the XT or XTi body.  The difference I find

I've picked up a Yashica MAT 124G camera a few days ago. It is in very

PING: Ken Nadvornick13 Jul 2007 19:48 GMT2
A long time ago, I was given some really old pics.  All of them prints
and negs from the early '20s and some even older.  But one in
particular was different from all the rest.  It caught my eye because
it was so unique.  It's just a bit bigger than a wallet size, but it
Just Because I'm In An Ornery Mood Tonight...13 Jul 2007 05:55 GMT6

photographic times we live in, mildly interesting nonetheless...
