Here's a weird one I took today. http://www.pbase.com/bret/image/79027007 Who can come up with the best caption? FWIW, that's a turkey vulture flying against the sun (two exposures

| SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE REALLY BLOWS a.s TONIGHT | 20 May 2007 05:51 GMT | 4 |
Bring back a standup comedian to host like the guy that hosted the first episode of the season. Everyone is sick of the crappy episodes when we could be watching Johnny Gan and Pongo's talkshow over on MadTV or Tom LaPont's cut-off-your-penis-and-balls real estate

| 35mm beyond 14x17 | 20 May 2007 03:54 GMT | 18 |
This is a subjective question, mostly. I have an art show next week and wanted to blow up a negative to a pretty large size, long print about 20x40, for the fascade of my booth. The staff at the print shop said beyond 14x17, it doesn't look very nice.

| A Long Time Ago Spiretone Had ... | 19 May 2007 20:00 GMT | 9 |
A long time ago Spiretone had an adaptor that you could attach to a telephoto SLR lens that would convert it to a telescope, i.e., with no camera attached. I can't remember what they called it to see if i could look up on google.

| Bogen magic arm question | 19 May 2007 18:34 GMT | 5 |
I would like to attach a small tripod head or a quick release adapter directly to one of the studs on a Bogen magic arm. The magic arm has a 3/8 inch threaded female stud on one end and a 1/4 inch threaded female stud on the other. My understanding is tripod heads are also

| [SI] Odditorium update | 19 May 2007 08:05 GMT | 2 |
Fortunately, there is an addition to the Odditorium making 15 entries; 14 was an even number and 15 is not and can only be constructed by multiplying prime numbers (which are of course all odd.) Very odd indeed.

| Finally a decent bird shot | 19 May 2007 01:28 GMT | 29 |
<http://www.edgehill.net/1/?SC=go.php&DIR=California/Bay-Area/edgewood/2007-05-13 /full-set&PG=7> That's with the MF Tokina 300mm f/2.8 plus 1.x TC. Click for full pixel crop. I'm pretty happy with this one. It's a little bird and very challenging.

| Digital that "looks and feels" manual | 16 May 2007 10:30 GMT | 5 |
What high-end digital cameras operate and feel most like traditional manual cameras (controls in right place, held in a similar way). The Leica V-Lux (and the Panasonic "clone" of it, or from which it was cloned, whatever), seems close. They all seem too small, with push buttons

| TRUTH - COPYRIGHT OF PHOTOGRAPHS in USA at http://www.annika1980.com | 14 May 2007 07:18 GMT | 23 |
Just in case anyone here thinks Bret Douglas actually has a clue about the bullshit he is propagating over claims about Doug MacDonald having breached copyright laws in using photos of him on the fan club page at http://www.annika1980.com.
